Welcome to NEST Taekwon-Do, where we offer family-friendly classes for students aged 7 and up. Our mission is to help our students build confidence, prevent bullying, meet new people, improve their fitness, and develop essential skills to defend and protect themselves. As an Official ITF Taekwon-Do registered group of schools in the North East area of England, we have classes in Darlington, Marske

, and Redcar. Chris Black V Degree, is an International Instructor, Umpire, and Examiner, and the highest-ranked official ITF instructor in the NE with over 35 years of experience and knowledge. He is also an ITF World Champion (2018) and a multi-European Silver and Bronze medallist. All our Instructors and Assistant Instructors are led by Mr. Black, who are fully qualified, insured, DBS checked, and registered members of the UKTA/BTC/ITF and various other groups. Come join our NEST Taekwon-Do family and experience the benefits of martial arts training in a supportive and positive environment.

BTC Championships 2026 🥋🏆

Congratulations to all of our competitors who travelled to Worcester today, as well as our instructors, parents and supporters.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats and represented NEST Taekwon-Do. From our team of 7 competitors, we came away with an outstanding 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

The results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and effort our students put into their training week after week.

Thank you to everyone who competed, coached, supported and cheered from the sidelines. We're already looking forward to our next competition in Liverpool this July. 👊🥋

📍 We're at the Redcar Rugby Club Family Fun Day today! 🥋

We'll be here from 12pm until 5pm, so if you're attending the event, come and say hello to the NEST Taekwon-Do team.

We'll also be putting on a Taekwon-Do demonstration during the day, so keep an eye out for that! 👊

Great to be down at St Hilda’s today for their Open Day, celebrating 5 years since the building opened back in May 2021 👏

This also marks 5 years of our Redcar classes being based here at St Hilda’s, which has been a brilliant home for us and our students.

Massive congratulations to our Chief Instructor, Mr Black, and the entire Welsh squad on an incredible European Championships 🇬🇷

Another medal added today 🥈 Silver in Team Sparring, narrowly missing out on gold in a final against Moldova that was decided in the last 30 seconds. Fine margins at the highest level.

That takes Mr Black to 2x Silver and 1x Bronze. A huge achievement and a proper statement on the international stage 👊🔥 Something for all of us to look up to and strive towards.

A serious achievement at an elite level, and fully deserved. The hard work, consistency, and standards he sets week in, week out have paid off on the international stage 👊

Congratulations to the Welsh ITF Taekwon-Do team selected to represent Wales at the EITF European Championships in Crete 🇬🇷

We’re proud to see our Chief Instructor, Mr Black, stepping onto the mats as part of the ITF Wales squad 🏴

A huge honour and a serious standard to reach. Go out there, perform at your best, and do yourselves and Wales proud 👊🔥

A huge thank you to everyone who supported and attended the competition back in February. Together, we helped raise over £1,000 from the event, plus a further £600 through food and team activities. That support has gone directly towards funding entries for all 22 squad members heading to the Euros - including our own Mr Black. It genuinely makes a difference 👊

Today Mr Bairstow and Mr Brough are attending the BTC Registered Instructor Course to renew their NGB accreditation and DBS.

This course is delivered online via Zoom and is a requirement for all NEST Taekwon-Do instructors, ensuring we remain fully qualified and up to date with safeguarding and national governing body standards.

Ongoing training like this helps ensure that our school continues to provide a safe, professional and supportive environment for all of our students, while keeping instructors up to date with the latest safeguarding guidance and best practice in teaching martial arts.
