Original ITF Taekwon-do School in Darlington, Marske, Redcar, and Skelton, North East England. Our Chief Instructor, Mr.

Welcome to NEST Taekwon-Do, where we offer family-friendly classes for students aged 7 and up. Our mission is to help our students build confidence, prevent bullying, meet new people, improve their fitness, and develop essential skills to defend and protect themselves. As an Official ITF Taekwon-Do registered group of schools in the North East area of England, we have classes in Darlington, Marske, and Redcar. Chris Black V Degree, is an International Instructor, Umpire, and Examiner, and the highest-ranked official ITF instructor in the NE with over 35 years of experience and knowledge. He is also an ITF World Champion (2018) and a multi-European Silver and Bronze medallist. All our Instructors and Assistant Instructors are led by Mr. Black, who are fully qualified, insured, DBS checked, and registered members of the UKTA/BTC/ITF and various other groups. 🥋 What an amazing weekend at the UKTA National Seminar!

We’ve had a fantastic weekend of training at the Royal Army Physical Training Corps in Aldershot, with plenty learnt and lots to bring back and pass on to our students at NEST. 👊

It’s been an incredibly enjoyable weekend of training, learning and spending time with the wider UKTA family.

There’s just one thing left… tomorrow’s grading! 🥋

🥋 North East England Seminar with Master Dean Matthews VIII Dan 🥋

We're excited to announce that Master Dean Matthews VIII Dan, Head Coach of ITF Wales, will be joining us at NEST Taekwon-Do for a special seminar on Sunday 30th August.

This is a fantastic opportunity to train with one of the UK's most experienced instructors, whether you're looking to sharpen your techniques, gain new insight, or simply enjoy a great day of training.

🏆 What a fantastic day at the North West ITF Championships in Liverpool! 🥋

A huge congratulations to every one of our competitors. You all represented NEST Taekwon-Do brilliantly, showing fantastic effort, determination, respect and sportsmanship throughout the day. For many of you this was your very first competition, and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. Medals or not, every single one of you stepped onto the mats and gave it your best. That's what matters 👏

Our team came away with an incredible 22 medals: 🥇 7 Gold 🥈 7 Silver 🥉 8 Bronze
An amazing achievement and a reflection of all the hard work that's been going into training 💪

A big thank you to the organisers for putting on such a well-run and enjoyable competition. We'd also like to thank Mr Chris Black and Mr Rick Bairstow for giving up their time to umpire throughout the day, and Mr Marc Matthews for coaching and supporting our competitors.

Finally, thank you to all of our parents, families, supporters, and everyone who helped organise the minibus and make the trip possible. Days like these don't happen without a lot of people working behind the scenes 😄

We're incredibly proud of every single member of Team NEST. Time to celebrate today's success... then it's back to training for the next one! 🥋👊

BTC Championships 2026 🥋🏆

Congratulations to all of our competitors who travelled to Worcester today, as well as our instructors, parents and supporters.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who stepped onto the mats and represented NEST Taekwon-Do. From our team of 7 competitors, we came away with an outstanding 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

The results are a testament to the hard work, dedication and effort our students put into their training week after week.

Thank you to everyone who competed, coached, supported and cheered from the sidelines. We're already looking forward to our next competition in Liverpool this July. 👊🥋

📍 We're at the Redcar Rugby Club Family Fun Day today! 🥋

We'll be here from 12pm until 5pm, so if you're attending the event, come and say hello to the NEST Taekwon-Do team.

We'll also be putting on a Taekwon-Do demonstration during the day, so keep an eye out for that! 👊

Massive congratulations to our Chief Instructor, Mr Black, and the entire Welsh squad on an incredible European Championships 🇬🇷

Another medal added today 🥈 Silver in Team Sparring, narrowly missing out on gold in a final against Moldova that was decided in the last 30 seconds. Fine margins at the highest level.

That takes Mr Black to 2x Silver and 1x Bronze. A huge achievement and a proper statement on the international stage 👊🔥 Something for all of us to look up to and strive towards.

This morning, he and the Welsh team stepped up and secured 🥈 Silver in the team power event at the European Championships 🇬🇷

A serious achievement at an elite level, and fully deserved. The hard work, consistency, and standards he sets week in, week out have paid off on the international stage 👊
