The girls took on Richmond Rovers this morning in their first game of 7aside and fell to a narrow defeat.

Captained by Heidi (our top trainer on Tuesday, arm band is currently missing though 🤦🏻‍♂️ blame Dan 😂), the first half was even but we went in 1 down after they scored directly from a free kick. Second half was more of the same, chances to both sides and they scrambled another in.

Lots of positives to take from the game. Ella and Heidi looked solid in defence. Aria did a great job in central midfield. Ivy was doing great work on the wing whilst Cecile was leading the line really well. Debuts for Alexia, Penny and Ida. Alexia did a great job in defence and midfield putting some great tackles in. Penny went on some great dribbles and absolutely ran her socks off. Ida did a great job in breaking the play up and really grew into the game as it went on and got close to getting a goal.

Player of the match had to go to our Number 1, Whitney. She pulled off some great saves, her handling was fantastic. Kicking was brilliant too. She turned into a sweeper keeper, running out to clear balls as the players were coming through but also dropping the ball, moving out the box with it at her feet before playing her passes, this included one run where she ended up near the half way line before playing a pass (this one had me like this 🫣 😂😂). Both Richmond coaches were really impressed with her performance and agreed she deserved the award 👏🏻 well done Whit 👊🏻

🔴🔵Under 15 blues.

First game of the season at Marple Hall. A very solid start to the season and good way to get rid of the summer rustiness A very positive start getting on the front foot from the kick off saw us take an early lead with some good pressing leading to a couple of goals. Sharp finishing by Reuban up front saw us go into a 4-0 lead after 25 mins. Second half saw more of the same, good pressing and nice passing movements. Reuban moved to centre half leaving Issac to pick up the goal scoring lead. Hatrick for both of them. Decent performances from all, special mention to the new players, kayden and Josh who fitted in well for their first game at Marple ath. Also to the two lads who covered the goalkeeping this week, Ewan and Robert. (Still trying to find one I promise lads ). Final score 11-2 to Marple.

Excellent 2-1 win to open the season. A captains goal from Elliot to break the deadlock, then a debut goal from Stan after great work by Austin to make it 2-0. Dukinfield pulled one back but the boys held on for the win, and probably could have had another goal or two.
Really pleased to see the level of effort from all the boys today, they all turned up and collectively deserved the win. Some lovely interplay across the pitch, and nice to see the boys use their voices.
While all the boys were great today special mentions to Stan for a debut goal, Austin for versatility and Roman, player of the match in his first time playing central midfield, a fab display!

Perfect start to the new season with a cracking team performance and well deserved 1-0 win.

We started the game well and played most of the first half in the final 3rd, creating lots of chances but just couldn’t quite get our shots off so headed into half time at 0-0.

Second half continued in a similar fashion, and after some sustained pressure Maxwell broke the deadlock with a fantastic finish after cutting in from the left.

The opposition piled on the pressure late on, but our rock solid defence secured a well earned clean sheet to see the game through - excellent team performance and the perfect way to kick off the league campaign.

MOTM was Maxwell, not just for his goal but his overall performance allover the pitch today was brilliant 🏆

Despite dominating early on we went behind to following a long ball that we wouldn't deal with - unfortunately this would be the story for all four goals!

We would pulled level shortly after from a tidy finish from Frank after neat work from Fraser.

Somehow we would go in at the break 3-1 down, with us missing a penalty also.

Second half Louis scored two excellent headers to pull level and we looked the more likely to go on and win. Unfortunately another long ball was not dealt with and they would go on to win 4-3...

Well done to motm Louis with two goals on his debut

A first game of the season for the U14 Reds and we were straight out of the box. Our usual Keeper, Jacob was injured today, but came along to support Miles who played the whole game as a stand in keeper.
We started strongly not letting Whythenshawe out of their half, but we just couldn't get the ball in the net. A quick break down the left with some lovely football resulted in a through ball and goal for Harry lobbing the keeper from just outside of the box. 1-0 at half time, without a shot taken against us.
The second half started in a similar fashion, but Whythenshawe slowly grew into the game. Some great defending, especially from Charlie and Alfie kept them at bay, before a shot that was saved and then cleared off the line was bizarrely given as a goal to Whythenshawe. That gave Marple the impetus and after some great play resulted in Oscar scoring a top-bins goal from the edge of the box. The game finished 2-1, and every player had given it their all. Special mentions to Charlie, Alfie, Luca and Aldo, apart from the goalscorers for some great play, but MOTM goes to Miles for a brilliant stand in spot in goal.

🔴🔵Marple Ath u15’s Girls 🆚 Hazel Grove

No photo today 😬 but a positive morning for the despite a 5-1 home loss to a strong and well organised Hazel Grove team.

We started well but conceded two soft goals in the 1st half.

We continued to show good character and played some good football across periods of the game without that little bit of luck in front of goal.

We conceded a 3rd against the run of play but then managed to give ourselves a lifeline with a good finish from Ava E ⚽️ from the edge of the box.

We lacked a little composure and probably some match sharpness towards the end, conceding 2 late goals with the game finishing 5-1.

All in all, a good test against a recognised opposition and plenty of positives to work on which gives us confidence of another strong season 🙏

Great all round performance from the U13 Girls Blues team against an evenly matched Mountfield Rovers Side today. A tight first half saw Blues Goalkeeper Vincy make a number of brilliant saves but the work rate throughout the side, trying a new formation today, saw Holly make a great run from Midfield and square the ball to Mara whose control and shot made it 1-0 at Half time.

The energy and effort of the side today was excellent and second half started with another Holly assist for Ella to take the goal her performance deserved. Mountfield came back making it 2-1 but Ella found Mara with a nice pass and Mara applied a powerful finish to make it 3-1. Mara then turned provider soon after for Holly to score a lovely finish putting the blues 4-1 in front.

Mountfield never gave up and scored a second goal but the Blues defended every ball and saw out the game for a first victory. It was great to see how the team applied what they learnt at training throughout the game.

Great game from all the girls today including Amelia playing her first competitive match and choosing Player of the game was tough but all agreed that Ella’s performance for 60mins and goal meant she deserved the award for today’s game 👏👏
