Finally our very own conference founder & owner of Beyond This, Peter Radford! 🤍

In this session Peter will explore the increase in misogyny, racism and xenophobia, as well as what freedom of speech means (and doesn’t mean). He will also tackle some of the disinformation around the issue of immigration and how a refreshed understanding of and commitment to human rights can help us address these issues and build a fairer, safer society.

Our last brand new speaker is Magen Inon!đź“Ł

Magen will share his family’s story. How after his parents we’re killed in the Hamas attack on October 7th 2023, he and his sibling have been calling for an end to the war, and demanding a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.

Magen Inon is a British-Israeli father of three and an educator with a PhD in the philosophy of education. He has worked to cultivate liberal values and leadership skills among students, military officers, young adults, and inmates. Since the murder of his parents in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Magen has become a leading voice for peace between Israelis and Palestinians within international media, local communities, and the political elite. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics.

Zara Manoehoetoe is a youthworker and community activist working with Kids of Colour in Manchester. Zara organises in antiracist and abolitionist movement spaces to organise resistance, build community power, and structures of care and support. She is dedicated to removing systems of oppression, recognising that all of our struggles are interconnected and prioritises relationships building, and knowledge exchanges as a key tool to facilitating coordination between groups to strengthen our movement.

Fuelled by a multitude of online voices selling a version of success built on power over others, aspirational misogyny is changing the way young people see themselves and each other. For girls, that can mean feeling you’re only valued through the male gaze, leading to constant pressure to seek validation. For boys, it can mean feeling alienated, falling into a victimhood mindset, or being drawn towards more extreme, radicalised communities.

In this session, Jo Morgan explores how big tech amplifies these messages and how you can resist them; building confidence, critical thinking, and healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Gulwali Passarlay is our first announced speaker! ✨

Gulwali will share his captivating story of struggle, danger and resilience and how he miraculously survived the harrowing year long journey from Afghanistan to the UK, on his own, after being separated from his brother.

Students will achieve an understanding of the extent of adversity that refugees face and thus be inspired to instigate positive change in their environments. Gulwali will also discuss the current situation for immigrants to the UK and the challenges that lie ahead.
