U10 Blues Managers Report - 7 Sep 24
So exciting to be starting the season, it was warm, the pitch was marked out and the grass was green! Most importantly we were all ready to be back and eager to start. It was a rollercoaster of a match between two evenly matched sides.
By the end Sienna had made her debut (not just for us but any football match), there were some hot and sweaty players and it was a super opening to the season.
There was some great individual play and even better, great teamwork. We gave every player a partner on the pitch to keep balance across the game and to provide an anchor for each position and as we only had one sub it was essential that the ball did the work to preserve early season fitness. We had opportunities we didn’t manage to convert and will work on determination and spontaneity of shots on goal; we stopped many shots on goal and will continue to work on consistent goal side defending and there were moments of ball chasing. However, we played a well organised team who were equally determined and proved a tough opposition.
The teamwork behind each goal, the certainty to win a ball and get it back up the pitch and stay engaged was fantastic.
Player of the match can be tough as there are many candidates and football is a team game. We look for someone who has lived our ‘rules’ of Fun, Teamwork and doing your best. This week we had a player who was demonstrably leading on the pitch looking for opportunity, gaps and keeping everyone organised and motivated but also put all of themself on the pitch keeping moving, scoring, setting others up for success and that was Elodie.
Well done team - super start because you brought your determination, skills and teamwork. Looking forward to the weeks to come.
