Today is a good day. After my examination before the UKTA grading panel on the 60th anniversary of the ITF (22nd March) and official ratification by the ITF board on another significant date (11th April) if feels great to confirm that I have been officially promoted to 7th Dan Master. This confirmation marking a trio of significant dates, my 60th birthday!

Many thanks to the UKTA grading panel for their support and to my instructor GM Andy Whiteley. But also many thanks to my original instructor GM Paul Cutler who took me from 10th Kup to 5th Dan and to First Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha (FGMR) who was my examiner for all gradings up to 5th Dan with the notable exception of 4th Dan (where I was privileged to grade with General Choi).

Onwards and upwards.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the official promotion of several outstanding ITF Instructors to the ranks of Master and Grand Master, as approved during the ITF Executive Board Meeting held on 11 April 2026.

A good technical session last night at Marlow Taekwon-Do. Lots of kicking drills and fundamentals with a bit of padwork and finishing with patterns. No time for sparring this week but we'll get back on it next week.

Today, June 15, we remember General Choi Hong-Hi, the founder of Taekwon-Do, on the 24th anniversary of his passing.

His legacy lives on through the millions of practitioners around the world who continue to uphold the art and philosophy he created.
