Stay clear of paddling near weirs and weir pools. Weirs have very strong currents called ‘stoppers’ that drag you under the water and hold you there. Follow safety signage and remember
if you get into trouble.

We are totally blown away to have received this award from The River Thames Society (RTS). We are privileged to have access to the Thames, its an remarkable ribbon of water bringing so much to all those that live, work and play along it. It links communitues brining people together and with creativitity it is truly accessible. The remarkable work we do with Accessible Boating Thames demonstrates this. Thankyou RTS for acting as a gardian of this wonderful waterway ensuring it is accessable for all in the future.

Our on-site partners at BASNS have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to the River Thames, supporting wellbeing and inclusive access to the water 🌊

Peter May has led the organisation for around 15 years, continuing over 30 years of family involvement delivering Royal Yachting Association training! ⛵

Alongside this, Peter and the volunteer team at Accessible Boating Thames help hundreds of local people and families safely enjoy the river each year in an inclusive environment 🤗
