Quick Maverick Tackle update πŸ“’

I’ve temporarily paused orders while I get everything ready for the Autumn Drop.
The website is still open for browsing, but checkout is switched off for a short period so I can focus on restocking, finishing the new range and getting everything properly prepared.
Orders will reopen towards the end of September.

Thanks as always for the support β€” back at the bench getting things ready. πŸ’š

PARTIAL RESTOCK IS LIVE πŸ‘€

I’ve spent a good chunk of the weekend going through the workshop, physically counting finished stock and getting the website back in line with what’s actually sitting on the shelves.

Quite a few things have reappeared, including Battle Grubs, Mini StoneFlies, MayFly Tipsys, Paddle Tail Grubs, Mini-Pinchers, Perch Slayers, V-Tails, Sticklebacks, Spiny Worms and some of the Standard Jig Heads.

And clearly a few of you are keeping a very close eye on the website, because some of the freshly updated stuff started selling immediately. πŸ˜‚

This is only a partial restock. I’ll keep adding stock as I work through production over the next few weeks, probably right up until near the end of the month.

Then comes the Autumn Drop. πŸ‘€
There’ll be new colours, new bits and maybe exciting things appearing in the store around then.

So if something you’ve been waiting for is showing in stock now, I probably wouldn’t assume it’ll still be there after everyone else notices. πŸ˜…

Someone asked in one of the groups this week about lure boxes and soft plastics melting into each other.

Short answer: it's usually not the box.

Plastisol lures leach plasticiser. TPE has nothing to resist it. Put them together and the TPE goes soft and sticky β€” and it happens even in separate compartments, because it travels through the air. Worse, once a box has held plastisol the residue soaks into the plastic and stays there, so it'll keep doing it months later.

Two boxes, one for each, never swap them. That's the fix.

I've also got a jar test running on the bench β€” three identical TPE lures, one in contact with plastisol, one suspended in the same air but never touching, one on its own as a control. Photos throughout. I'll post the results in a few weeks.

Written it up properly here if anyone wants the detail:

Been out this morning with the kids on the upper Thames and the perch were properly on.
Water's cooled a touch and you could see fry coming out of the water everywhere, trying to get away from them. Once you've seen that you know what to tie on.

Most of what worked sat in the same size bracket. Stickleback 7.6cm, SlickSwim Paddle Tail 7.6cm, WhipTail 7.8cm and the chunkier PreyBait 7.6cm all outfished the small stuff by a distance. All on our own jigheads, 2g to 5g depending on depth and flow.

Naturals were the ones β€” Minnow, Ruffe, Roach and Gudgeon. Makes sense when they're locked onto fry; you want something that looks like what they're already eating rather than something that stands out from it.

Feels like the start of the autumn switch. Once they're herding fry the little finesse baits stop matching what they're chasing, and that 7cm-plus bracket comes into its own.

Genuinely didn't expect the last couple of weeks. Orders going out to more places than I can quite believe, and messages from people I'd never have reached on my own.
Thank you β€” all of it has come from people actually fishing the lures and telling others. That means more than any advertising would.

Quick heads up: I'm off from the 15th to the 30th. Family time, and I'll be using the quiet to get the Autumn Drop ready.
The shop stays open, but anything ordered during that window will most likely go out when I'm back. I'd rather say that up front than have anyone waiting and wondering.

Big production session this weekend 😊
Battle Grub's back in stock across the board β€” Black & Blue, June Bug Royal, Bloodworm Pearl, Maggot, Earthworm and PB & J all restocked properly rather than the usual two or three packs.
Also topped up Mini StoneFly, StoneFly, Micro Pulse, Paddle Tail Grub, MayFly Tipsy, Spiny Worm, Mini-Pincher and Mini WhipTail β€” mostly June Bug Royal and Black & Blue, which are the two that empty fastest.

Whiskey Grub is on the site now too. Iain came up with the name and it stuck, so that one's on him. It's used on a few of the small baits.

There's also a handful of Glow in the Dark Battle Grubs up. Only three packs β€” it's a bit of a pain to make and the pigment isn't cheap, so it stays a limited colour. Curious what people make of it. By the way, the best way of using it is "charging" them up with a UV light πŸ˜‰

Work's been relentless this week, so I grabbed a few lures off the bench and went to the river for a couple of hours.

Mini StoneFly in Swampfire, Stickleback in the new Ruffe colour, and Perch Crushers in Treacle. All three caught. The little ones were having a proper go at the 7.5cm Crusher, which is nearly half the length of them.
Just after sunset it was a fish a cast.
Best thing I've done all week.

Spending most of the weekend in the workshop. Restocking the colours that have sold out β€” Maggot, Earthworm, Black & Blue and a few others should all be back up by Sunday evening.
This'll be the last restock before the Autumn Drop 🍁 After that I'm switching over to getting the drop ready.
Worth signing up to the newsletter if you haven't β€” subscribers get told about drops 48 hours before everyone else. The limited editions and premium colours won't be around long, so that head start matters. Link on the site.
Had a few of you asking, so there you go πŸ˜„
