A bit of rain couldn’t spoil a great Ashley Baker Gala Day, with all three of our teams putting in excellent performances. Richard, Steve and Stella were drawn in the Red Group. Bob, Chris and Linda, with Keith, Mick and Liz were drawn in the Blue Group.
A steady day’s bowling earned Richard, Steve and Stella fourth place in the Red Group.
In the Blue Group a superb start saw a 24‑shot win over Milton Hill for Bob, Chris and Linda. A tight second game slipped away 7–6 against Harwell after a last‑bowl steal, but they bounced back strongly after the lunch break. A confident win over Kingston Bagpuize set up the final showdown with Shrivenham. Their Skip, Stuart, has never beaten us and his record remained unchanged as the team delivered an emphatic 19–3 win. The team finished with 3 wins from 4 and an impressive +62 shot difference, placing third in the Blue Group.
Four straight wins saw Keith, Mick and Liz top of the Blue Group and into the gala final — where they faced Shrivenham, winners of the Red Group. In a brilliant performance, the team won the final, securing the gala title and ending the season on a high!
A fantastic team effort across the board — flying the flag for the club and closing the season with real style. Well done everyone 🏆🥳
