Last night, members of the 1st XI squad visited Marlborough Amateur Boxing Club on their latest pre-season fitness stop.

All of the pre-session 'chat' quickly came to an end as the boys were given a thorough 'going-over', by ABC members and punch bags alike, in what was an extremely intense workout.

We can confirm that none of the BERCC attendees are likely to be the next Tyson Fury, but, despite the gruelling session, all enjoyed the experience.

Thank you to Marlborough ABC & lead coach Stuart who were extremely accommodating, patient and gave us a fantastic evening.

It was great to connect with another local sports club, and we look forward to welcoming the boxers to Red Lion Field in the summer.

There have been a couple of loud voices on face book recently saying the club is in trouble and falling to pieces.

I would just like to say the club is not in trouble and we are doing just fine.

Yes, in the past we have struggled to get ready for the up and coming ABA seasons, but all coached and the people behind the scene are volunteers not taking a penny from the funds and there are many hoops to jump through.

Yes, some fighters have left because of this and we have shaken their hand and wished them luck then, now and in the future.

And YES we still make the member's wellbeing our number one priority and feel we offer a safe and encouraging environment for all ages to train, whether they want to compete or not, whether they want to spar or not.

So please don’t listen to these bitter people, come down and see us and make your own mind up.

Marlborough Amateur Boxing Club has been brought together by volunteers who applied for grants and refurbished the building to make it a fantastic facility for local people. It offers training for both seniors and juniors with qualified coaches, all at very reasonable rates and is affiliated to the UK Amateur Boxing Association (ABA).
