Let’s talk Progressive Overload 🧠

Progressive overload is when you gradually increase the weight, frequency, or number of repetitions in your strength training routine. This challenges your body and allows your musculoskeletal system to get stronger.💪🏋️‍♀️

Although progressive overload is usually used in strength training, the same idea can be applied to any type of exercise, including cardiovascular training like running.🏃‍♂️🥵

By changing up your workouts and adding additional tension to your muscles, you can avoid plateauing, which is when your body adapts to the type of exercise you’re doing. With progressive overload, you will notice you’re becoming fitter and stronger.✅

I started working with Ellie and Alastair during the first lockdown! Ever since they have been attending lots of classes (gym and virtual) and working with myself twice a week! Most common question I get asked is ‘How can I lose fat round my stomach?’ or ‘just round my legs?’ 🦵

You can target certain areas more than others but muscle growth in a region does not reduce fat! ❌

When it comes to fat loss it’s a all over process and this is all to do with how many calories are consumed.🥦

When an excess of calories are consumed, they are stored as subcutaneous fat by the body. When your body takes in fewer calories than it burns, the stored fat is metabolized into energy for the muscles, resulting in fat loss 🧠
