The perfect time to start - Right Now! We've just started a new beginner's rotation at our Market Rasen classes and we would love to welcome you along. One of my students said recently: "I love dancing as when you're dancing you just focus on the joy of the dance!" For me (back when I started), dancing was the highlight of the week - a chance to have fun and forget any hassles or responsibilities. Dancing is great for your body, brain and mental health, too.

There's literally no reason why you shouldn't give this a go: whatever your level of fitness, co-ordination, dance-ability, musicality or any other perceived problem, you can only improve. And that's not even the best bit! You'll have so much fun along the way. We're a friendly and sociable crowd, so you'll make friends while you learn as well as having a world of social events such as dances or vintage festivals to enjoy.

You don't need a partner as we rotate partners and - CHAPS - we're especially welcoming to you as we recognise it can feel like a big step starting to dance. It did for me, but after years of thinking about it, I finally started - and needless to say I loved it. Come along and find out how much fun you can have leading a partner dance. It's a wonderful feeling. In fact, come along to class next week as a completely new starter and I'll refund your money at the end of the class if it isn't great fun.

Here's a video from last week's beginner's class in Alford. We're not there on the 12th June, but new beginners are welcome to join on June 19th - or any week afterwards. Here are some words from one of my lovely dancers about why she loves the class so much:

"Even before becoming a widow I was part of several ladies' groups in the community. They are a safety blanket, somewhere to disappear into whilst, outwardly, appearing sociable. I didn't have to bother with my appearance, just simply show up. Hearing about Lindy Hop piqued my curiosity and I have joined a group of people with different mindsets. I now find myself being physically and mentally challenged and enjoying this immensely. Dancing has given me the strength to voluntarily step out of my comfort zones and I relish feeling like a woman again no longer needing my invisibility cloak of widowhood. Bring on the frocks and makeup- I'm not getting old just yet!"

Lindy Hop classes are perfect regardless of age; level of starting fitness (this will improve gently); confidence in yourself or your body; your perceived ability as a dancer (you wouldn't come to class if you could already do it!); or indeed anything else you can think of. We are a friendly, inclusive bunch of lovely people who enjoy dancing and having fun. Learning to dance opens up a whole world of dances, events and friendships.
