AGM notification and APPEAL FOR A NEW CHAIR TO THE SUPPORTERS OF 1ST LAVINGTON SEA SCOUTS
Dear Friends and neighbours
we are searching for a new Chair for our board of trustees for Lavington Sea Scouts.
π§ Anyone over the age of 18 can become a Trustee and as a board of trustees together they manage money, ensure that Scout policies and relevant legislation are followed, look after buildings and property, manage risks and plan for the future of the group. Looming large for the Trustees of 1LSS is the construction of a purpose-built Scout Hall on the Elisha Field following the sale of the Workmans Hall in the village last year.
Most of the Trustee positions are general appointments but two have specific roles:
The Chair:
βοΈ Leads the Trustee Board,
βοΈ Plans the timings and agenda for Trustee meetings,
βοΈ Leads the Trustee meetings and Annual General Meeting,
βοΈ Liaises with lead volunteers, and;
βοΈ Leads recruitment for new Trustees, supporting other Trustees through induction etc.
The Treasurer:
β
Look after finances, collecting membership fees and making payments,
β
Share details about income and spend with the other Trustees,
β
Make sure Gift Aid is being claimed.
β
Make sure proper accounts are kept and draw up policies on finance and investment.
βοΈ Our current Chair and Treasurer are both stepping down after many years of service to the Group. We have a new Treasurer but the Chair position is vacant.
π This is a great opportunity for someone to really support a local community activity. Although the Chair leads the board they are supported by all of the other Trustees.
π¨ It is vitally important for us to fill the role of the Chair before our AGM on 17th September. We would ask all adults either involved in the Scouts or living in the local area to consider volunteering to become a Trustee and possibly the Chair. For more information or to register your interest please contact Sean OβGorman via [email protected]
βοΈ We invite you all to our Annual General Meeting on Wed 17th 6pm September at the Elisha Field in Market Lavington.
