We’ve been working hard over the summer 💪

Not only delivering 5* sessions but also building some new aviaries for our birds! Through heatwaves and rain we’ve dug, screwed and hammered two new aviaries 🦅 Now phase one has complete…onto building more!

It’s starting to feel very autumnal, and Fletcher our Tawny Owl was captured feeling the vibes on our photography day 🦉🍂

Tawny owls are the ‘twit-twoo’ callers and often get associated with autumn and the spooky season but they’ll call all year round because they’re so territorial!

One of Britain’s small falcons, these little beasts can weight up to 280g but don’t let their size fool you! They can really pack a punch in their tiny talons and catch prey like mice, shrews and voles!

Iconic due to the book/film ‘Kez’ it’s because of the beloved kestrel that Andrew (head falconer) began falconry in his boyhood! So we do have a soft spot for them ♥️

Introducing 🥁🥁🥁

DENNIS!

Our beautiful baby Red Kite has joined us at Bird on the Hand! Arriving with us at 5 weeks old, birds of prey grow so quickly he’s taking a moment to admire himself.
We’re so excited to get him on the flying team for experiences, his training is progressing wonderfully

Its so special to be part of wedding celebrations with our owl ring bearers 💍

often we are booked as a surprise for guests so we get the ‘backstage’ view and see all of the effort that is put in to make wedding days special for couples. We’ve hidden in back rooms, secret bookcases and bushes to make sure your guests get that wow when the ring fly down the aisle!

A double catch 💥💥
Our Harris hawk is quite good at catching treat mid-air but sometimes he may miss….this slowmo really shows us how keen he is to catch his dinner and with some acrobatic twists and turns in the sky, he catches it the second time with success!
