A new addition to the studio! 🩰🎨
I was lucky enough to receive these gorgeous pieces by local artist for Christmas, and I’m so happy to have them on display for you all to see.
The inspiration behind these drawings was a piece of professional dance called Carmen.maquia by , which performed at last May. It’s a stunning contemporary ballet that reimagines the story of Carmen with incredible strength and style. 💃
I hope you enjoy seeing a bit of local art and international dance history on our walls!

The studio doors are officially OPEN again, and we are so excited to welcome you all back to class, starting TODAY, Monday, October 27th!

🧠 Did you know? Ballet has its own official, international language! 🌍

When Miss Annie asks you to do a 'plié' (to bend) or a 'sauté' (to jump) in class, she is using French! Most ballet steps have French names because the original vocabulary of ballet was established hundreds of years ago in France.

This beautiful language is used in dance studios all over the world! Every time you learn a step, you're learning the official words used by dancers globally. How many French dance words can you remember? Put them in the comments below!

✨ Dancer Fun Fact: Why do we point our toes? ✨

Ballet dancers don't just point their toes to look elegant—it's a super power! 🦸‍♀️

When dancers stretch and point their toes, they are actually making their legs look much longer and their movements look much smoother! It’s like drawing a beautiful long line in the air with their feet. It helps with balance and makes leaps look like flying! 🚀

Time to relax and recharge! 🍂

Just a friendly reminder that AFB Dance Academy will be closed for Half-Term Break next week.

No regular classes will run from Monday, October 20th, to Saturday, October 25th.

Important Note for the Monday 5:15 PM Group: The only exception is the make-up session for the Monday 5:15 PM class, which will still run next week to catch up on an earlier cancellation. Please check your email for the specific details regarding this session.

We hope all our wonderful dancers and their families have a fantastic and restful break! We can't wait to see you all back in the studio, refreshed and ready to dance, starting Monday, October 27th.
