Something we are all concerned about right now., especially with confirmed outbreaks in the ST post code area. Here as C&A we want to put you minds at rest about our prevention methods. We use veterinary grade disinfectant on all our equipment and ask the direct contact equipment such as brushes are provided by our clients. We minimise contact with horses other than the ones we are servicing at the time and wash and disinfect everything after each call.
We all play a part in preventing the spread of this disease a fact that we take very seriously.

A very good read

Strangles is a disease many horse owners fear, but the reassuring news is that most horses recover fully with the right care. Although it’s very infectious and common in the UK, the fatality rate is low (around 1–2%).

Knowing the early signs, understanding how it spreads, and acting quickly can help protect your horse – and others on the yard.

Before during and after. This beautiful 3 yo has just started his training. Has been lightly backed and getting used to being groomed and fussed with. His tail was a tad matted and had at least a small bush in it. A calm approach was used to help him feel good about the whole process.

Today I have been horse sitting. I was with her while the procedure took place and then stayed with her for just over an hour afterwards. Poor girl was on another planet 🤣
