Paddle UK Provider
Selection of different SUPs and Paddles to try. Message me on FB or WhatsApp or Google I am a Paddle UK SUP Sheltered Water Coach and SUP Coastal Leader. I am also a Paddle UK Paddlesport Touring Leader and I am working becoming a British Canoeing Endorsed Guide. I've a lifelong passion for water and nature. After a 30 year career in frontline policing, I have made the switch to

an all together more relaxing career. While its a new job, I've been paddling for many years, and I can use my local knowledge to get you started on the very underused waterways of the region. West Norfolk in particular is a hidden gem. I use the waterways around East Anglia, so wherever and whatever you fancy paddling I can probably help. I have a range of different makes models and sizes of paddleboard you can try, taking some of the mystique out of the question of the price v quality question. I've also got some children's boards for families to try. PFDs (Buoyancy Aids) and wetsuits (optional) and a portable hot shower. This is a place of peaceful tranquility, the miles of waterways underlined by the wildlife, from Swans, Grebe and Geese to Kingfishers and Otters. Winter can also offer a unique perspective, Marsh Harriers and Short Eared Owls can often be seen over the Marshes and Bittern can offer a fleeting glimpse. For the more adventurous our expansive coastline offers miles of sandy beaches and salt marsh against the backdrop of the North Sea. Wildlife is no less spectacular, from the thousands of Seals lining the sandbanks and beaches to the Little Auks bobbing around chasing sand eels. There are increasing chances of Sea Eagle sightings as a bonus. Marsh Harrier, Kite and Buzzard are often seen prowling the coast. If you've been wanting to try paddle boarding, as an individual, a couple or as a family I can help you get started. If you've paddleboarded before and have your own board but want some advice on new places to paddle, I can point you in the right direction. Fancy trying a different board? Want a go on a touring board? Fancy trying a Canoe or a Sea Kayak? Flexibility is the key! Insured, First Aid Qualified and Safeguarding Trained and Checked.

Interesting stats to go with the launch of The fourth year of partnership between RNLI and Paddle UK designed to raise awareness around the water safety for paddlers.
Lifeboat launches are up, paddlers assisted and lives saved are down. Encouraging on all fronts. The RNLI would always rather be called and stood down or not required than they would not be called in the first place.
Five top SAFETY TIPS -
Wear a Buoyancy Aid (PFD) that is correctly fitted to you.
Tell Someone where you are going, and WHEN YOU WILL BE BACK!
Carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case. Deals are available through Paddle UK Membership, and from the RNLI
Check and understand the weather and what it means for your paddle.
Know your limits and understand your kit and its limits.
Almost half of all launches to assist were for people being caught out by wind and tide.
Data from RNLI for 2025.
Remember the RNLI and Independent Lifeboats that protect our massive coastline do it entirely from voluntary contributions.

Our safety advice covers a broad range of water activities to help keep you safe at the coast.

A gradual adjustment to water temperature is key to a safe and enjoyable time in the water. Not always possible if you fall off a paddleboad. A PFD is an aid to buoyancy and not a lifejacket. The PFD is less restrictive and will give you that extra lift when you need it most, when your breathing is shallow and rapid and your muscles need the extra help.
Stay safe this summer.

RLSS UK’s advice on safe participation:
If you are going to cool off at a lifeguarded beach or an inland venue, it is important to enter the water slowly, wait until your body has acclimatised, and regain control of your breathing before swimming or venturing out of your depth.

Be mindful that the water is still very cold. When your muscles cool, it becomes more difficult to coordinate your movements and produce power; tragically, this often leads to swim failure. It is important to get out of the water before you get cold.

Wearing a well-fitted wetsuit can significantly slow this cooling period. If you plan to swim at your chosen lifeguarded location, wear a bright swimming hat, take a brightly coloured tow float to stay visible, and go with someone.

A glorious Bank Holiday and Half Term weather-wise in the East of England. Now things have returned to normal, it's a perfect time to experience the quite peaceful waters of East Anglia.

Dutch Barge(?) Hereward heading South on The Relief Channel yesterday.
I had a drone up with a group of D of E candidates from the Swan Youth Project. It's always nice to see something different of the water. 😊
