πŸͺ WIND FUTURES TAKES OFF πŸͺ

Over the past two weeks, 12 young people from Thanet, Whitstable and Canterbury have taken part in the first Wind Futures youth kitesurfing taster sessions.

Hosted at Minnis Bay and Ramsgate, participants learned:

βœ… Kite setup and rigging
βœ… Launch and landing safety
βœ… Wind awareness and weather conditions
βœ… Understanding the wind window
βœ… Beach kite control
βœ… How kitesurfing equipment works

The group included Sea Cadets, Air Cadets, Sea Scouts, RNLI lifeguards, martial artists, skaters, horse riders, snowboarders, parkour athletes and more.

For most participants, this was their first introduction to kitesurfing.

We're incredibly excited that 6 young people will now progress into fully funded professional kitesurfing lessons as part of the programme.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Wind Futures so far, particularly Vattenfall for helping make this pilot possible.

We're now looking to secure additional funding so we can support even more young people in future rounds.

Interested in joining a future programme or know someone who would benefit?

Great work Stef and Gray trying to put our side across, unfortunately the news is a biased and they have missed a lot of very good points in our favour , like the fact they have been studies proving Kitesurfing has a little to no effect on Birds, and the fact a PCSO is not within its remit in this case! We would really prefer to work together to resolve this rather than being cast as the villains, a sport that is non polluting and makes people care more about their environment

However both the council and a wildlife trust say the ban is important to protect endangered birds
