Phases Pole & Aerial Studio Phases is Thanet's only dedicated pole dance and aerial fitness studio.

We run classes for all ages and abilities in pole, aerial hoop, silks and hammock and static trapeze.

💜These kids made these combinations themselves.💜

Not copied. Not handed to them. They worked out the moves, picked the order, put it to a random and then performed it like they’ve been doing it for years.

This is junior aerial hoop at Phases.

We teach hoop to children aged 8 and up, and the emphasis is always on building real skill and real confidence.

They learn the moves first. Then they learn how to link them. Then, eventually, they start making it their own.

Watching a child go from learning their first basic pose to choreographing their own routine is one of our favourite things about running this studio.

It’s not just about the trick. It’s about what happens in their head along the way.

The focus, the problem solving, the pride on their face when they nail it.

🟣Trying to get the perfect shot🟣

The amount of teamwork that goes into one good hoop photo.

One instructor turning the hoop. One shouting directions about where your arms should go. Another person holding the phone. And you, just trying to remember you’re meant to be pointing your toes and not pulling a weird face.

This is basically how it goes every single time someone wants a nice picture in the studio.

Nobody just gets the shot first try. There’s always a bit of faffing, a few “wait, do that again,” and at least one person off camera going “chin up, leg higher, no, your other leg.”

But that’s kind of the whole vibe here.

Everyone helping everyone. Whether that’s spotting a trick, cheering on a milestone, or making sure you leave with a photo that actually does the move justice.

This is what training at Phases looks like behind the scenes.

Looking for something actually exciting to do with the kids this summer?

This is it.

On Thursday 30th July we’re running a Junior Circus Workshop here at Phases, and it is going to be brilliant.

10am until 12pm. Ages 8 and up. Two hours of aerial hoop, aerial silks, aerial hammock, and static trapeze led by two of our awesome instructors, Seren and Anna.
Your child will try four different circus disciplines in one morning. They’ll climb, swing, balance, and hang upside down from things. They’ll do stuff they’ve never done before and come home absolutely buzzing.

And you get two hours of school holiday sorted.

Spaces are limited so this will fill up. If you’ve got a child in Thanet aged 8 or over who needs something different this July, don’t sit on it.

These are 4 real moves from a real beginner hoop class at Phases. No experience needed to learn any of them. No particular level of fitness required before you start. Just a willingness to try something new and the good sense to wear clothes you can move in.

Aerial hoop is one of those things that looks completely out of reach until you’re actually doing it.

And then it just feels incredible.

We teach hoop to students of all ages and abilities right here in Thanet. Complete beginners welcome every single week. Our instructors will have you on the hoop from your very first class, working at your own pace, in a room full of people figuring it out alongside you.

🟣FAQ- Can pole help me lose weight?🟣

It could do, if you combine it with a balanced diet.

BUT

That not why we do pole! We do pole to find ourselves, to feel comfortable in our own body and to love what our body can do!

Don’t worry about your weight, the pole doesn’t care about that. It is the best dance partner in the world and it won’t judge you for your weight.

🟣FAQ- How old do I have to be to start pole?🟣

Here at Phases we have pole students aged 8 all the way up to over 60! So you can do pole at any age.
Here’s a handy guide to put pole classes-

✨ Junior Pole Sports- ages 8-teens- learn all types of pole moves from spins to upright poses and upside down poses.
Why 8? Children need to be able to hold on to the poles securely and by 8 they are generally big enough to do this.

✨ Beginner Pole- age 16+ (13-15 with parental consent) for complete beginners.

✨ Beginner/Intermediate Pole- age 16+ (13-15 with parental consent) a mixed level class suitable for complete beginners to those who are already comfortable being upside down.

✨ Intermediate Pole- age 16+ (13-15 with parental consent) for those levelling up their pole work and are working on more complex sequences up the pole.

✨ Intermediate/Advanced Pole- age 16+ (13-15 with parental consent) for those who want to work on more strength or flex based moves.

✨ Beginner Heels- strictly 18+ for those who want an intro to dancing in heels and the sexier side of pole.

✨ Intermediate Heels- strictly 18+ for those who have mastered the basics of pole in heels and want to work on heels tricks and a deeper dive into moving on heels.

🟣FAQ- Do I need to be flexible to start pole?🟣

No you do not! 😀 Doing pole can actually help to improve your overall mobility because you’ll be moving your limbs in ways you don’t do in everyday life. But again, to start with you don’t need to be flexible to start.
