Today's set of photographs are of the Sunday Morning Mudsports which were amazingly well attended in wonderful sunshine with a bit of a breeze. Luckily there was still plenty of mud despite the drought conditions!

Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part.

Mistley Marauders who took the honours once again in the men's tug, and the Red Lion retained the women's trophies. Don't forget that we will need them back before too long to put your names on them!

Thanks as always to Neptune for his yearly visit to oversee the event and to make sure that the tide comes in again at the end.

And that's it until next year. But what a 2026 Manningtree Town Regatta it was. The weather was great, the crowds were just amazing, there was enough wind for sailing both days and the mud sports were hotly contested in both the race across the river and the tug of war. And the children triumphed once again in the beach tug of war (one year just maybe the adults might win - but not this year.

Thank you to Neptune for gracing our tiny town with his presence once again, to everyone who took part or spectated, to the Fire Service for the open day, and for services to mud washing, to the RNLI and HM Coastguard for water safety advice, and St John for First aid at the mudsports. Finally a huge thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors who made it possible.

We will be back next year and we will let you know when we have a date for the postponed fireworks.

It's a lovely morning and we are busy setting up for the mud sports this morning - if you want to register for the race across the river or the tug of war join us before 9.30 and sign in.

Today has finished early as the Regatta Fireworks marking the 90th Anniversary of the Club will not go ahead this evening due to the drought conditions and concerns about fire risks. But we will rearrange for a bit later in the year when hopefully we will be complaining about the rain!

Tomorrow is another day and tomorrow it will be the mud sports and children's beach takeover - starting at 9.30.

As always we advise that children wear shoes of some sort on the beach and especially in the mud. And if you are planning to take part in the race across the river and/or the tug of war then you must wear shoes and maybe even gaffer tape them on - that mud is tricky stuff and noone knows what lies beneath!

Join us for muddy fun! The marquee will be open for cake and coffee and we have persuaded Neptune that there will still be enough mud for him to attend the Regatta.

Sadly we have taken the really difficult decision to cancel the Regatta Fireworks that were planned for this evening due to the drought conditions.

We are really grateful to Dynamic Fireworks for being so understanding, and enabling us to reschedule the display until a little later in the year.

Please share widely as we don't want too many people turning up and being disappointed.

We have had a few questions about whether there is still time to end the Tug of War and the Race across the River on Sunday Morning.

The answer is YES! For

For either or both events you can turn up at 9am on the day and sign up.

Details of both events are below and also on the Stour Sailing Club website.

To enter the Race Across the River - just turn up at the Marquee and sign up. For the Tug of War you can enter in advance, but equally you can turn up with your Team at the Marquee and fill in the entry form.

Regatta is now only a week away!

This is a reminder that the Regatta Fireworks will be held as usual at around 9.30 PM on Saturday 1st August - (as soon as it is dark enough). The Fireworks are set off at the end of the Hard opposite the Sailing Club at low water. They are a free event and can be viewed from the Town Beach and the Walls.

The Club's traditional Starting Guns will also be in use for the Sailing Races. Please be aware that they are Loud (but short lived).
There will be a countdown over the PA system prior to signals.

Approximate timings are in the outline programme for those who would prefer to avoid.

Manningtree Town Regatta would like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors. The support of our local Town and Parish Councils, the Business Chamber and local Businesses plays a vital role in helping to keep the tradition of the Regatta as a community event going - especially the Regatta Fireworks and the Mud Sports and Children's Beach Takeover.

There is still time to support the regatta, and we also welcome offers from local businesses for 'in kind' donations, including for prizes for the Mud Sports and the Children's Beach Takeover.
