Friends Sporting Club www.friendssportingclub.co.uk We started playing every weekend with a tennis ball and the venue being Whitworth Park.

YESTERDAY
Friends Sporting Club (FSC), Manchester was formed in 2005, when a few like-minded Malayalee friends, in and around Manchester, met up and decided to start playing cricket. The first ever match we played was with a team from Salford with a softball and we got hammered. But I still remember, how we went back and beat them in the next game!!

Huge congratulations to Arun George on an absolutely breathtaking bowling performance for Friends Sporting Club against Walshaw CC! Taking 9 wickets for just 21 runs in 7 overs (including a maiden) is the stuff of dreams, but performances like this don’t just happen by accident.
Behind every unplayable delivery, every shattered wicket, and every match-winning spell lies a simple truth: the difference is made on the training ground.
We often see the magic on match day, but the real foundation is built during those tireless midweek nets, the constant repetition, and the dedication to refining line and length. This stunning 9-wicket haul is a direct testament to what happens when talent meets relentless, regular training. When you put in the hard yards at practice, the pressure of match day becomes your playground.
Arun’s incredible debut is an inspiration to our entire squad—especially our junior teams—proving that consistency, discipline, and commitment to regular training always pay off when it matters most.
