Think of your calories like your daily budget 💸

You have a certain amount to “spend” each day, and tracking helps you understand exactly where that budget is going.

It doesn’t mean you need to eat perfectly or cut out the foods you love. It means learning how to make your meals fit your goals, while still leaving room for flexibility and a life outside of your diet.

When it comes to fat loss, awareness is powerful and you might be surprised how quickly the little extras can add up 👀

Want to understand calories, how to work out your own target and how to track them properly?

30kg between these two versions of me 🤍

I had a C-section, no village or extra help at home and I was navigating all the newness that comes with becoming a mum for the first time. But I knew I wanted to feel strong, confident and like myself again.

I didn’t get here by starving myself, cutting out the foods I love or making the gym my entire personality. I still ate out, enjoyed my favourite meals, had weeks where training didn’t go perfectly and lived my life alongside working towards my goals.

Of course, there were sacrifices. There were mornings I trained when I would rather have stayed in bed, meals where I made the choice that aligned with my goals and plenty of times where consistency required discipline rather than motivation.

But that’s balance.

Balance doesn’t mean doing whatever you want all the time, it means finding a way of working towards your goals that doesn’t require putting the rest of your life on hold.

30kg down, stronger, happier, healthier and in better shape than I was before pregnancy, without killing myself to get there.

If I can do this alongside motherhood, work and everything else life throws at us, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from making a start too.

You don’t need perfect circumstances, they don’t exist

You just need to start with the ones you have. 🤍

Your calorie deficit hasn’t necessarily “stopped working” but the deficit you created at the start might not be the same deficit you’re in now. 👀

As you lose weight, your body requires less energy.

Diet for long enough and you may also see changes in energy expenditure, hunger and subconscious movement (NEAT).

Then add real life into the equation…
☀️ Holidays
🍽️ More meals out
🥂 Social events
😴 Later nights + less sleep
🚶‍♀️ Changes in daily movement
🍴 Less structure around nutrition

And suddenly that “plateau” makes a lot more sense.

The answer?
It’s not automatically to slash another 200 calories.

When a client’s progress stalls, I look at the FULL picture before making changes.
Sometimes we adjust calories.
Sometimes we increase movement.
Sometimes we tighten up consistency.

And sometimes, after a prolonged period of dieting, we deliberately move into maintenance before pushing fat loss again.

This is why fat loss needs a strategy, not an endless cycle of eating less and exercising more.

If you’ve been doing “everything right” but your progress has stalled, it might be time to look at the data differently.

Most people don’t fail because they lack information. They struggle because the plan only works on
perfect days.

My coaching is built for women rebuilding after having a baby, women who had a real routine before and
want it back. We rebuild your strength and help you feel at home in your body again, while still managing
a newborn schedule, broken sleep, limited time and a body that’s still recovering from birth.

For the next 5 clients who join before 31 August 2026 at 20:00, I’m including 50% off your first month (£100 saving).

Send me “REBUILD” if you want to see whether it fits your goal.

Your meals don’t need to be exciting, aesthetic or different every single day to get results 👀

In fact, having a handful of meals you genuinely enjoy, that hit your protein and calorie targets and are easy to throw together makes fat loss SO much easier.

Less decision fatigue. Less overthinking. Less “what am I eating today?”

Find what works, keep it simple and repeat it.

Boring? Maybe…
Effective? Absolutely 😂

1kg of body fat stores roughly 7,700 calories of energy 👇🏼

A 30-minute steady jog might burn around 250 calories for the average person although this will vary depending on your body weight, pace, fitness level and incline.

So, purely looking at the maths:

🏃‍♀️ 3 x per week = around 10 weeks
🏃‍♀️ 4 x per week = around 8 weeks
🏃‍♀️ 5 x per week = around 6 weeks

That’s roughly 31 x 30-minute sessions to expend 7,700 calories through those treadmill sessions alone.

But this DOESN’T mean you need to run off 7,700 calories to lose 1kg of fat.

Your body is burning energy all day, every day, keeping you alive, walking around, working, looking after your kids, digesting food, training…all of it contributes to your total daily energy expenditure.

Fat loss comes down to creating a consistent overall calorie deficit over time.

The treadmill? It’s simply another tool that can contribute towards that and this is exactly why I don’t want you obsessing over the “calories burned” number on your watch or treadmill.

Focus on the bigger picture:

→ Nutrition
→ Daily movement
→ Strength training
→ Cardio
→ Consistency

You don’t need to spend HOURS doing cardio to lose body fat.
