Another HUGE Sunday of football for Winton Wanderers, with plenty of teams kicking off their new seasons! 🙌
New leagues, new kits, competitive debuts and some fantastic individual and team performances across the club. Here’s how they got on 👇
🐍 𝗩𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦 🐍
A great start to the season away at Brooklands Dragons. After a quiet opening half, Josh broke the deadlock with a brilliant free kick before the lads really stepped things up after the break. John, Blake and Tyler all found the net during an excellent second-half display. 👏⚽️
💪 𝗥𝗘𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗦💪
The Rebels debuted their new home kit in the County Cup against familiar opposition from their MYSL days. A really dominant display for large spells, controlling the game and creating plenty. A brief lapse after half-time gave them something to learn from, but overall a very strong performance. 🧡🖤
🐾 𝗟𝗬𝗡𝗫 🐾
An outstanding start to the season against Bolton Lads & Girls! The Lynx were firing from the off and produced a fantastic all-round team performance. ⚽️🔥
🏴☠️ 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 🏴☠️
A massive milestone for the Raiders as they played their first ever game against a strong Flixton side. Plenty of encouraging signs to take away and lots to build on as this new team continues to develop together. 🧡👏
🌪️ 𝗖𝗬𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦 🌪️
The newly formed Cyclones kicked off their MGSFL journey with a brilliant first outing! Plenty of goals, smiles and excitement — all while sporting a bit of a mix-and-match kit! 😂⚽️
🐈⬛ 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗦 🐈⬛
A tough opening test against Boothstown with plenty for the Black Cats to take back onto the training pitch. Lots to work on and improve as they get themselves back into the rhythm of the new season. 💪🧡
⚡ 𝗧𝗛𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 ⚡
Thunder got their new season underway in their brand-new kit… although a colour clash meant they had to reverse it when the opposition arrived in a variety of colours! 😂 A really enjoyable game and a strong team performance. ⚽️👏
🔥 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗫🔥
A performance the coaches couldn't have asked much more from against Radcliffe. Phoenix created plenty of chances, skimmed the post several times and had a big penalty shout along the way. Loads to be proud of from the team today. 👏🧡
🦖 𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 🦖
What a first competitive 5v5 experience for the Raptors! The boys got stuck in from the first whistle, tackling hard, working together and producing some fantastic football with goals coming from right across the team. Liam picked up Player of the Match after a brilliant display. 🏆👏
🦈 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗦 🦈
A fantastic opening cup performance away at Adlington, but the best moment had nothing to do with the overall result. 🧡
Four months ago, a new player came along wanting to try football for the very first time. Today she made her competitive debut. After being understandably nervous in the first half, she was encouraged to just go for it — and scored a brilliant goal in the second! ⚽️🙌
The reaction from her teammates said everything. A special coaching moment and a brilliant reminder that you’re never too old to start playing football. 🧡🦈
🃏 𝗝𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦 🃏
A really close, end-to-end contest against Chadderton with plenty of action at both ends. The Jokers also had an effort ruled out for offside in another competitive performance. ⚽️👏
🐆 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗛𝗦 🐆
The Cheetahs played their first competitive 5v5 game together and absolutely ran their socks off! A really close contest right until the end and plenty of positives to take from their first proper outing. Most importantly, the boys loved being out there playing football with their mates. 👏🐆🧡🖤
🦅 𝗩𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗦🦅
An outstanding first competitive game away at Ashton Town. The girls took control of the game and produced a brilliant team display, with Aoife enjoying a fantastic day in front of goal and Kayla also getting on the scoresheet. 💪🏻⚽️
🧙♂️ 𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗦 🧙♂️
A fantastic start to the new season away at Haslingden. New players made an immediate impact, including new striker Honey, who marked her debut with an incredible five goals! ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ Outstanding from the Merlins! 💪🏻
🔥 𝗙𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦 🔥
A baptism of fire with a round robin against Haslingden and AFC Bolton — two sides who provided really tough tests last time around. This time the Flames produced two excellent, competitive performances and played some lovely football. A really encouraging starting point for the season ahead. 🔥👏
They also got to model the new training kit thanks to a couple of kit clashes… even if the coaches aren't its biggest fans! 😂
⛈️ 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗠 ⛈️
Storm started the season with a bang! Fantastic teamwork, plenty of assists and three different hat-tricks made for an action-packed opening performance. 💪⚽️🔥
🐆 𝗟𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦 🐆
A tough test against a quality Longford Park side. The Leopards took a little while to find their rhythm but produced a much-improved second half. With only one substitute available, tired legs understandably kicked in towards the end, but there were plenty of positives to build on. Great to be back! 🟠⚫️
🦁 𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦 🦁
A big introduction to life in Section A against an excellent RTB Academy side. The girls worked incredibly hard throughout and did themselves proud against top-quality opposition. Plenty to learn from and develop as they adjust to the step up. The only way is up! 🟠⚫️🦁
🦅 𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗦🦅
Plenty of frustration for the Griffins after creating lots and playing some excellent football. A few moments defensively proved costly, but there was plenty in the overall performance to be encouraged by.

A really entertaining opener away at Eastleigh, with the Fireflies creating chance after chance — and seemingly taking enough corners to last them the whole season! 😂 A very encouraging first outing. 👏⚽️

A really good challenge against Boundary Park, who have stepped down from the Premier Division. The Rams worked hard and gave themselves plenty to build on before Boundary showed their quality later in the game. We go again! 💪🏻🧡
🥷 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗦 🥷
The Bandits took a little while to wake up against AFC Monton, but once they did, they produced some excellent attacking football and really found their rhythm. ⚽️🔥
🌪️ 𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 🌪️
A competitive opening game against MCR Devils Ignite and a reminder that every new season starts with a clean slate. The Tornadoes began brightly before the game slipped away from them, but with two players making their debuts and plenty of football still ahead, there’s lots of time to find their rhythm.
