Well the dust has settled on the Isle of Man Youth Tour and it wasnt a bad weekend for our riders. 13 riders took to the start line and we managed 18 top 3 places overall.
In the team event the youth B boys came first and the Youth B girls 2nd.
In the individual events Frank and Libby got 1st in stage 3 of the C & D age groups. Freddie got a 3rd in stage 3 B boys and that put him 3rd on overall GC. Seraphina got a 2nd and 3rd in the C girls which secured 2nd in both GC and points competitions and Phoebe got a 3rd and 2nd in the A girls stages 1 and 2 which secured 2nd place in the overall GC and Points competitions.

Well done also to Melissa, Olivia, Katie, Bertie, CharlieP, Jamie, Charlie B and Charlie H who all rode strongly across the three sttages.

Good luck to the 6 former members of Sportcity Velo racing at the British Universities Track Championships this weekend. Those who have been around the club for a while may recognise the names. Hannah Yates, Matty Dennis, Lizzy Broughton, Milo Dixon, Tyana Reid, and Maisy Vasic.

Hugh congratulations to our club Chairman and lifelong member of the club Matt Rotherham on being awarded an MBE in the Queens New Years Honours list. Great news at the start of 2022.

A PARALYMPICS gold medallist has been recognised in the New Year Honours list.

Hot on the heels of Toms British Record yesterday, tonight we had a visit from one of our former members - Jason Kenny - who started his track cycling career at Eastlands.
Tonights session was the last one in our 5 week Madison block and culminated in a 120 lap Madison race. All the riders did really well in a very challenging session and competed right to the end! I think they will all sleep well tonight!

Tonight Sportcity's Under 14 Sprinter, Tom Morrissey, broke the U14 Flying 200m British Record at Manchester Velodrome. He completed the 200 metres in a time of 11.567 seconds beating the existing record of 12.082s held by Club Chairman Matt Rotherham. Nice to see the passing of the batton with Matt pushing Tom up the track at the start of his effort.
Well done Tom, its a well deserved achievement and an inspiration to our younger club riders. Thanks also to the Manchester Regional Track League team for all their work to make it happen.
