‘Ling Ch’ia-Yogatshu’
The ultimate endeavour of the study of Ling Ch’ia-Yogatshu is
to find and work with your Master Within. Yoga:- Is the over all Indian (Sanskrit) name for systems of meditation and postures. Wushu - is the over all term for Chinese martial arts. Budo - is the over all term for Japanese martial arts. Kalarik Kalai is the over all Tamil term for "art of the battleground". There are hundreds of styles of Yoga and Martial Arts through out the world. The system created and taught by Sukha-Dharma Christopher Keith Baldwin and Sukha-Dharma John Phillip Bolwell was developed over 60 years of training. The system includes techniques taught to them from family members and international teachers. Some have been collected from traditional & modern styles of Martial Arts. In 1959 The system became public (in the sense that other then family were trained one to one). In 1983 John and Chris created the‘British Yogatshu Federation’ So that larger ‘public’ classes could then be
established. This has recently been renamed the ‘British Yogatshu Federation International’ (B.Y.F.i). and is in the process of being re-organised. Ling Ch’ia There is a leaning in the Ling Ch’ia system towards techniques originating in China, Japan and India. The techniques are inspired and chosen to reflect the founders principals of physical and spiritual self-development. These include movement, posture, relaxation, meditation, healing, and the development of ‘Sidhis’ (Psychic awareness). Techniques have been developed to be suitable for men and women of most ages as they do not rely on power or strength alone. Yana Yoga:- Yoga from China and India is an integral part of Ling Ch’ia study but with a heavier leaning towards Yoga styles from India. The Ling Ch’ia Yoga syllabus was developed by British Wheel of Yoga instructors Swami Paramatma Saraswati, Alison Baldwin and Barbara Bolwell. This was subsequently named ‘Yana-Yoga’ (Yana=Vehicle). The spiritual inspiration for the style is from the ‘Bhagavad Gita’ and is based on the moral and spiritual teaching from ‘Kurukshetra’. Padma:- Within the ‘Ling Ch’ia-Yogatshu’ system is a structure for students that are physically less able and would not be able to safely practice the more robust syllabus. This is called ‘Padma’ (Lotus). It includes every aspect of the system but without the more demanding movement. However; every student of ‘Padma’ must be able to show that they are able to (teach all aspects of the ‘Ling Ch’ia-Yogatshu’ syllabus. Spiritual:- Spiritual teachings are drawn from western and eastern influences that are in accord with Ling Ch’ia philosophy. Philosophy:- 1. Love every one (essential) but one doesn’t have to like them.
2. Know and be true to yourself.
3. Approach your life and everything with love and a non-violent mind (Ahimsa).
4, Practice Ahimsa when defending yourself mentally or physically. Master Within:- There is no fixed reference to what the Master Within is. This is a personal inner journey to be discovered by the individual through Ling Ch’ia practice. Ling:- Shamanic power. (Traditional Chinese medicine concept of ). Ch’ia:- Secret
Ling Ch’ia Calligraphy:- The meaning has been interpreted as:-
1/ Less then nothing. 2/ The secret messenger. 3/ The secret message.
