π Match Report: Walkden 11s vs Egerton 11sπ
Walkden 11s batted first against a strong Egerton side in our first match at this new level.
There were some excellent passages of play with the bat, and the team showed great determination throughout the innings. Several players played some outstanding shots, although we also lost wickets at key moments. We finished on a competitive total of 323, setting Egerton a challenging target.
Charlie was the standout performer with the bat, scoring _ runs β comfortably his highest score to date and an impressive achievement at Under-11 level.
At one stage, it looked as though Egerton might struggle to reach the required total. We started strongly with both the ball and in the field, applying pressure and creating opportunities. However, as the target drew closer, we became a little anxious in the field, which led to some unforced errors and unnecessary extras. Ultimately, these proved costly as Egerton secured victory by just five runs.
Although the result didnβt go our way, there are many positives to take from the performance. We will learn from this experience, continue to improve in the areas we know need work, and come back stronger next time.
Everyone should be proud of their efforts. Cricket is a game of fine margins β sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose.
