Urmston Sports Club

Urmston Sports Club Football, Cricket, Tennis, Hockey, Bowls, Croquet Softball & Social Club Tennis was first played at the club around 1904.

The Club, originally founded in 1846 as Urmston & Flixton Cricket Club, is situated in the leafy suburbs of Urmston, west of Greater Manchester. From 1846, for many years, the Club played cricket on a number of different fields locally until the 1870's when it moved to its present location. Membership steadily increased until in the 1920's when the Club formed a trust and was able to purchase the

cricket field and the adjoining fields for tennis. A new pavilion was built in 1925 and from then until the 1960's things remained unaltered. In the mid-sixties land was sold to finance the construction of a new pavilion and further land sales financed an extension to this pavilion. The hockey section was formed in the 1980's and has developed into a very strong force within the club. Since then The Club has added a bowls section , a Croquet section and most recently in 2019 A softball/Baseball section as well as becoming home for Aldermere FC’s two Football teams . The Club is also now home to the Stretford & Urmston City Supporters Club and is also the home to several other clubs and organisations and is growing into a thriving and improving Multi Sports Club

We also have a growing social membership who can watch Sport either live or on one of our big screens as well as listen to Live Music which is becoming another feature of the club. A club such as ours is always looking for new members and we would be more than happy to help prospective members with any information they need.

In agreement with our vendors, we’re very sad to announce that due to the forecast of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Annual Fun Day. 🌧️⛈️

The safety of everyone attending, along with our vendors and team, has to come first.

Urmston Sports Club are looking for part time bar staff to join our friendly team! We are a family-friendly multi-sports club with a members bar and a busy Function Room which we hire out for private parties. We also host occasional music festivals and other outdoor events.

We are looking for part-time bar staff to work evening and weekend shifts with late finishes.

The ideal candidate will be friendly and reliable, and flexible with their availability for shifts. Also over 18’s only!
