DM me ROADMAP if you’re interested in one of the 5 coaching spots

Rachel’s story hopefully gives you some motivation to show what is possible with the right guidance and approach

However, motivation alone will only get you so far!

Working together will give you clarity over your goals and a clear path to get there …

AND just like Rachel you’ll see that much more than what you think IS possible

Should you train Single Leg Strength as a Runner?

Yes!

Should it replace training on two legs?

No!

As a runner you’ve likely not built the foundations of strength because you chose running over the gym

Because, that’s your preferred way to exercise and that’s ok

BUT .. You’ll build MORE direct strength when training on two legs rather than one because you can generate more force

Then you can add in single leg strength exercises to work on your stability and any muscle imbalances you may naturally have

Plus, you’re NOT a a professional runner so focus on building strength for life NOT just for running

PLEASE 🙏

Genetics in Running

Some people have a natural genetic talent for running, something they are born with

This will allow them to have a better starting point and be able to handle more long distance specific training

Which in turn will give them more motivation to continue and likely lead to a bigger jump in progress

YOU and I are not all blessed with these same genetics

And this is not a sob story or a plea to ‘JUST WORK HARDER’

You can still improve and achieve things you don’t believe are possible

BUT once you know this, it’s liberating

You can stop comparing yourself to people that are naturally gifted and focus on yourself instead

AND give yourself the well earned praise for sticking to it especially if you’re someone that finds it more difficult

That’s where the beauty lies!

“It’s called ParkRUN!!”

I’ve seen this comment a lot hitting back at the “offence” of this sign

I’m not offended but it but I think they’re missing the point

People don’t go to Parkrun just to run

They go to get outside in nature, see their friends, move their body, start the weekend with a sense of achievement

The list goes on!

Whereas some people can’t understand that

And think that if you’re active you must always strive for faster, be more optimal and obsessed

And I think that’s who Nike are trying to advertise to, which is fine by the way

What do you think?

Build confidence through evidence

I ran a free Half Marathon workshop a few months ago and the majority of people said that their biggest barrier to running their first half was confidence in their own ability

This is completely normal!

Especially if you’ve never ran a half before, it’s scary and the unknown

There’s a real fear that you might not be able to complete the distance

BUT, that’s where your training comes in

You will build confidence through your training, IF and only IF you stick with it

Your confidence will grow each month as you build proof

If you want help kickstarting your training to your first or next half marathon ⬇️

Comment the word HALF and I’ll send you a message to see how I can help

Conquer your long run

There can be a lot of fear around the long run, especially if you’re running further than you ever have before

But it doesn’t need to be as daunting

This is how you can conquer your fear of the Long Run and break through the 10k barrier on your way to a Half Marathon

- Set up a desirable environment for the run
- Fuel enough to have consistent energy
- Break it down into smaller manageable chunks
- Run slower, it’s going to feel difficult in parts but shouldn’t feel hard from the very beginning

Changing your perspective and controlling what you can can make you look forward to your Long Runs instead of seeing them as a chore every week

Try just one of these next time you go on your long run

Run at the same pace as you race??

Should your runs always be at the same pace that you want to race at?

The answer is No

The majority of your running should be at a pace considerably slower than your goal time with some faster shorter runs sprinkled in

This will help you build up your Longer Runs gradually and recover better, especially if you’re trying to run distances you haven’t done before

Try out running a minute or slower per kilometre in training and see how you feel during and after the run

Run your first half marathon!

Want to train for your first half but don’t think you have the time?

The training doesn’t have to take over your life like you may see online

2 or 3 runs a week is enough IF you give yourself enough time to prepare in the build up to your race

This is my guide for you based on the current distance you are comfortable with running:
* Starting from 0: 6 months
* Starting from 5k: 4.5 months
* Starting from 10k: 3 months

And if you want access to my free Half Marathon Plans, DM me the word HALF and I’ll send you the link 👍
