Regionals 2026
FST started regionals with a couple of our younger swimmers at Liverpool. Mizar and Albert both had their first experience at regionals and stood up to the challenge amazingly. Mizar had three races in the 100 fc, 100 bk and 200 IM, smashing his Pb in the bk. Albert brought his skills to the 200 brs and 100 brs and raced tough competition very well.
We then had to wait almost a month for the relays and sprints. Max started us off with a strong 50 bk just off Pb pace then repeating in the fly to make the final. He entered into the fly final full of confidence as the fastest seed and absolutely smashed it - getting a Pb and swimming 27.60, the fastest time in the North West! Our first Flixton gold at regionals in a long time and another notch on his increasingly impressive belt.
Sunday saw our boys racing the speedy 50 fc with Mizar, Will, George and Max all putting in a great shift. Joe followed his team mates in the 50 brs pushing below his entry time.
To finish the fantastic weekend we had our relays where we had a new record number of Flixton entries with 2 boys and 2 girls relays entered. Our girls freestyle relay got us underway with Eleanor, Nell, Nonna and Emily having a superb swim dropping 5 seconds under their entry time. Our boys followed with a great swim from Mizar, Max, Matthew and George. Next up was our girls medley relay with Jess setting us off in a Pb in the Bk, Lucy swimming a fantastic Brs leg, Eleanor with a Pb in the Fly and Emily racing incredibly on the Fc. The boys followed with Oli on the Bk with a Pb, Joe with a Pb in the Brs, Max pushing hard after all his races for the Fly and George finishing well in the Fc.
To say I am proud of these swimmers is an understatement. Their hard work the past few weeks and the camaraderie of the team has been awe inspiring. From our little FST we have relay teams challenging the giants and they should all be holding their heads high after their performances and be looking forward to the next week.
