Four tries this afternoon from Jimmy Moll, Sam Bradbury x2 and Harry Hutton.

1XV Matchday Squad of the Year!

A long period of no rugby matches and we are raring to go.

The lads have worked hard all pre-season and an excellent squad has been named including a number debutants.

Many thanks to our sponsors for their continued support of our players.

If stuck for plans this Saturday get down to Sefton RUFC for a 3pm kick off. The lads will appreciate all the support.

Bongs Rugby is Back! 🚨

Following deferment of the league fixtures till the 26th September we’re pleased to announce our first fixture of the year will be cup action this weekend.

On the road to Sefton RUFC who always play their part in a physical and fast paced contest.

The lads and coaches have worked hard during pre-season and are looking forward to getting the season underway.

As always the lads appreciate all the side line support.

Pre-Season Fixtures

With regret, we have made the decision to cancel the pre-season fixture games in the interest of player welfare.

Due to the hot weather experienced our pitches have become unplayable. We want our players fit, healthy and available to be part of the journey this season.

Apologies to Dukinfield and St Edward’s Old Boys. Lads and coaches are gutted but player welfare is paramount to anything we do.

Alongside our recently announced captains, the coaching staff have selected three individuals who embody the values of Tyldesley Rugby Club to form our Leadership Group and support the captains throughout the upcoming season.

Head Coach Malc had the following comments to say:

Adam Lewis

Some leaders inspire through words; others through the standards they set. Adam Lewis is one of those leaders.

As a senior figure in our squad, Adam leads through preparation, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the team.

Adam challenges those around him—especially our younger players—to prepare better, work harder and never settle. His influence and experience will be vital in strengthening our culture and helping develop the next generation.

Thank you, Adam, for your commitment, leadership and example.

Billy Knight

Some people lead through experience or performance. Others lead simply through the way they make those around them feel. Billy is one of those people.

In only a few seasons, Billy has embraced everything Tyldesley Rugby Club stands for. His enthusiasm, positivity and ability to lift those around him make him a fantastic example of what it means to belong to this club.

Billy brings energy when it is needed, encouragement when confidence is low and a belief that inspires others to be better.

We are incredibly proud to have him in our Leadership Group and excited to see the positive impact he will continue to make.

Charlie Dicky

Having progressed through the Minis and Juniors into our senior squad, Charlie embodies what makes Tyldesley Rugby Club special.

His loyalty, consistency, humility and hard work have made him someone his teammates naturally trust and look to for leadership.

As part of the Leadership Group, Charlie now has the opportunity to grow further, find his voice and help those around him reach their potential. We have every confidence he will embrace the challenge with the same commitment and character he has shown throughout his journey.

One week to go until our first pre-season fixture against Dukinfield. We thought it would be great to look back in the archives from 2017 of a previous encounter between both teams.

Some Bongs legends within that team and some lads still playing 1XV to this day!

Match report below from the fixture:

Saturday 2nd April 2017

Tyldesley 29 Dukinfield 5

With just two games to play, Tyldesley regained top spot thanks to Saturday's bonus-point win.

They now require only four points to guarantee promotion and five to secure the title.

Although way below their best, Bongs completed their home league campaign unbeaten.

Tyldesley never got going and constantly played into the hands of a robust Dukinfield side through some poor game management and rushed plays.

With 26 minutes played, and a couple of genuine opportunities squandered, the hosts recorded the first score as a result of a good catch and drive from a line-out, with Adam Fetherston touching down at the back.

Dukinfield hit back within minutes, and would have taken the lead, had it not been for the ball hitting the crossbar from a well-struck conversion.

Tyldesley regained the lead after Crampton took a line-out ball, before Craig Pulman fed Lee Davies who ghosted through the large gap created. Man of the match Paul Martin converted.

The hosts' performance improved slightly during the second forty, but still many unforced errors prevented any fluidity as the game continued to be a stop-start affair.
With the game approaching the hour and Bongs down to 14, Matt Crampton recorded a third try after another good catch and drive pushed Dukinfield back.

Crampton recorded his second and Bongs' fourth bonus-point try, which secured the points with eight minutes remaining.

With the game secured, Tyldesley started to play some good supporting rugby which was rewarded with a great try from Zak Sargent, converted by Martin.

Tyldesley travel to the Isle of Man to play Vagabonds on Saturday.’

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Andy’s Man Club will be launching at Tyldesley RUFC from 7th September.

Every Monday at 7:00pm, our clubhouse will become a place where men can come together, talk openly, and know they’ll be listened to. No judgement. No pressure. Just support when it’s needed most.

These sessions are open to everyone – you don’t have to be a member of the rugby club. Whether you’re a player, supporter, friend, family member, or someone from the local community, you’ll always be welcome.

At Tyldesley, we believe a rugby club should be more than just a place to play sport. It should be a place where people look out for one another, on and off the pitch. If you’re struggling, we hope you’ll feel able to walk through our doors. And if you’re not, please share this with someone who might need it.

Together, we can help make sure that no man has to face life’s struggles alone.

We are delighted to announce the appointments of Ben Dicky as 1XV Captain and Danny Bez as 1XV Vice-Captain for the upcoming season.

Ben leads from the front with unwavering commitment, relentless determination and the ability to inspire those around him, making him the ideal person to lead our club.
