Swinton Lions are delighted to confirm that 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆-𝗗𝘂𝗳𝗳𝘆 has re-signed with the club for the 2027 season!

Following an outstanding 2026 campaign, Trent established himself as a key figure in the Lions squad, earning both the 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 and 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 awards. 🏆

Known for his relentless work rate, uncompromising defence and consistency, Trent regularly topped the tackle count and delivered huge minutes for the team throughout the season.

🎙️ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:
“We’re delighted that Trent has re-signed with Swinton. He had a fantastic season, earning the Man of Steel award for his hardworking, uncompromising performances. Week after week, he regularly topped the tackle count and played big minutes for the team.

“Trent also picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award, and there is no greater recognition than being voted for by your teammates. It speaks volumes about the respect he has earned within the squad.
“He’s still a very young player with his best years ahead of him, and we’re excited to see his continued development over the next season and beyond.”

Swinton Lions are delighted to confirm that 𝗧𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 has re-signed with the club for the 2027 season! ✍️

Following his first season in the Championship, Tom has established himself as a hardworking and committed member of the squad, making 27 appearances and contributing 28 points.

🗣️ 𝗧𝗼𝗺 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:
“I’m really happy to have re-signed at Swinton for the 2027 season. I really enjoyed my first season in the Championship and especially in a Lions shirt. We have a really good set of lads and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season and turn things around this year.
Also I can’t wait to see all the Lions fans next year. Thanks for your support in 2026, and for sticking with the team despite a difficult season.

Thank you to Steve, the directors, Muzza and the rest of the coaching staff, for the opportunity to put on a Lions shirt again in 2027!”

🦁🏉 RETURN OF THE VALENTINE CUP

The Valentine Cup is an important part of Swinton and Salford rugby league heritage, with a history stretching back to 1902/03.

The competition has a connection to Swinton through Jim Valentine, the Lions great who captained the club to victory over Salford in the 1900 Challenge Cup Final.

After 14 years away, the Valentine Cup returns on Sunday 25 October, bringing four of our local community clubs together at Salford Community Stadium.

✍️ 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲-𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻!

Following an outstanding 2026 campaign, Harry has committed his future to the Lions as Anthony Murray continues to build his squad ahead of next season.

🏆 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀’ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿, Harry was also recognised with further honours at the club’s End of Season Awards, reflecting his impressive performances and consistency throughout the campaign.

🎙️ 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:

“Harry is a player we feel it’s really important that we retain. Keeping our in-form players is a key part of building a strong squad, and Harry has had a terrific season.

He was deservedly named Coaches’ Player of the Year and also picked up other awards at the end-of-season presentation, which reflects the consistency and quality he has shown throughout the season.

Harry is still a young player with plenty of potential, and we believe there is even more to come from him. I’m really looking forward to seeing him continue to develop, improve and hopefully have another very good season with us.”

Please note that from this year it no longer became mandatory to participate in the formal process, and after some internal discussion, this was the course decided at Swinton Lions RLFC
