Manchester School of Arms HEMA/historical fencing group focused on longsword, sabre and dagger. These include fighting with longsword, sword and buckler, daggers, rapiers and cutless.

Fundamentals - 20:30 - 22:00 Manchester School of Arms is Manchester's premier Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) club. We meet on Thursdays at 7:30pm at Christ Church, M14 4GP

All levels of experience, skill and fitness welcome. All gear provided on the night

Historic Europ

ean Martial Arts consists of modern researchers and martial artists using historic documents and hands-on exercises to resurrect the lost martial traditions of Europe. We do a structured warm up followed by practical teaching and sparring so we can further our understanding of how these techniques would be used in combat situations. All levels of experience, skill and fitness welcome. All gear provided on the night.

Class times for fundamentals classes are below and these are suitable for all levels of experience.

On Monday we spent the first half looking at sources. Even if we think we know the techniques, going back to the texts and trying to see if we can get our interpretations to make sense is a great way to improve our understanding.
