We've had a few students recently asking us how to get started on practice.
It can seem overwhelming at first, especially as it can be hard to remember the movements and exercises once outside the class environment.
It is useful for beginners to start with the foundation exercises like silk reeling or qigong to work on the Taiji principles, then as your confidence grows, practice individual postures of the form gradually linking more and more movements up together.
GM Feng Zhiqiang states that gong practice is the foundation, strengthening internal qi. As you proceed, each subsequent step should use the gong accumulated and is also a further means for continued accumulation of gong.
He quotes an old saying "You can skip quan, but you cannot skip gong" After you know gong, then you can know quan. The busier you are, the more you need to practice gong, because it can replenish the jing/qi/shen you consume. This way you can have a healthy, long life.
Sounds good to us 😀 and there are videos and articles on our website to help you along. Enjoy ❤️☯️
