Meet Ralph & his lovely wife Susan

Ralph popped in ASV last week and enquired about joining the Gym and one question he asked was am I too old?

Our response was absolutely not!

We get asked this quite often and what’s great to see is our older population groups taking their health & wellbeing as a priority as they get older.

There are so many positive benefits of using a Gym and being physically active as you get older.

Your heart is the most important muscle in your body and to support and improve heart function is essential.

Likewise, doing effective resistance training is absolutely key to support functional strength & injury prevention

This afternoon the Gaffa has just done their first Personal Training session together, using the recumbent bike & some functional exercises using the TRX bands with a great 30 minutes of physical activity.

Ralph is 92 years old and is our most senior member at ASV and proves your never too old to join a Gym 🙌

What’s even better is seeing Ralph and Susan coming to use the Gym together and doing the routines today side by side 👏

Well done both of you today. Fantastic workout and look forward to seeing you both next week for your second PT together 💪

By far one the most challenging summer periods of our grass pitch renovations with hardly any rainfall and at one point was looking like hiring out our Stamford Park Trust grass ⚽️pitches for beach donkey rides!

Thankfully, last couple of weeks the rain has arrived and together with our grounds contractors Bancroft Amenities, we have got the pitches up and running for the start of the grassroots junior league season this past weekend.

Our Stamford Park Trust grass pitches at Ashton Sixth Form & Longdendale High School will play host to 9x Tameside Junior Boys & Girls 11side teams for the 26/27 season.

Alongside providing excellent facilities for college and secondary school football provision & fixtures

Through community income generation and funding support from Football Foundation PitchPower, we continue to provide the very best facilities for both education and community year round ⚽️
