🚨🚨🚨When Gvardiol and Dias were injured, Pep Guardiola wanted to use either Nathan Aké or John Stones to partner with Guehi, but Pep Lijnders opposed that idea.

Pep Guardiola wasn’t a fan of Khusanov’s style of play, as he isn’t as comfortable on the ball as Stones or Aké.

However, Pep Lijnders urged him to trust Khusanov, saying he has qualities similar to a prime Virgil van Dijk - strength, pace, leadership, and a fearless style of play.

Pep Guardiola trusted Lijnders and has started trusting Khusanov more.

Now, the feeling in the coach staff is that even if Gvardiol and Dias return before the end of the season, Khusanov won’t be relegated to the bench.

Khusanov has built a brilliant partnership with Guehi and Guardiola has given so much credit to Pep Lijnders for that. 🔥🔥🔥

Top clubs don’t operate like that. Pep Guardiola never waits for a player who is thinking about another team. He always has two or three alternatives ready and moves on quickly.

That’s the difference. City set the terms, United react. If Anderson is unsure, United should walk away and focus on players who actually want to come.

You can’t rebuild a midfield with players who see you as Plan B. That’s how you end up overpaying and still not getting full commitment.”
