FMAC Tiger Tots Middleton

FMAC Tiger Tots Middleton Family-run family martial arts centre. Korean Tang Soo Do. Fun martial arts based classes for 4 to 7 year olds.
(1)

For students aged 3 to 6 years old, this training programme is designed to improve motor skills while enhancing attention skills. The instruction teaches the basic fundamentals of self-defence in a positive environment that helps foster a positive attitude in the children. All classes are taught using the most safe, fun and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This programme

works in conjunction with the Leadership programme, emphasising the same important monthly themes and value system. This is a great way for children to get exercise and have fun! Badges are awarded for outstanding performance in the martial arts class, at home and at school. We believe in positive re-enforcement for appropriate good behaviour and performance. The Tigers Tots system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. Our basic building blocks for the Tigers Programme are monthly themes, including the following: Courtesy, Respect, Confidence, Honesty, Perseverance & Self-Discipline.

6-WEEK SUMMER HOLIDAY AUDIT

Be honest...

During the summer, has your child's:
☐ Bedtime shifted?
☐ Routine disappeared?
☐ Screen time increased?
☐ Concentration decreased?
☐ “Wait your turn” skills been tested? 😂
☐ Listening become... selective?

Don't panic.

That's what September is for.

Routine isn't something children either have or don't have.

It's something they practise.

Getting your Tiger back into regular martial arts classes gives them another consistent opportunity to practise:
Listening.
Waiting.
Following instructions.
Body control.
Concentration.

So let's get the routine back.

Mr Kelly was chief Tiger wrangler last night, and it was brilliant to see so many little superstars all working hard on their new moves with him.

For parents of younger children, make this about distraction rather than phones.

“LOOK AT ME.”

How many times do you say it?
😂

Young children are surrounded by distractions.
Toys.
TV.
Noise.
Other children.
People talking.

And school adds even more.

Our Tiger classes regularly ask children to:
👀 Look
👂 Listen
🧠 Remember
🧍 Stay still
👉 Then act

It's surprisingly hard.

Which is exactly why we practise it.

Concentration is easier when you've practised concentrating.

EVERY CHILD HAS A “BEHAVIOUR BUTTON.”

Something happens.

Someone takes their turn.

They don't get the toy they want.

They make a mistake.

They get told “not yet”.

And their reaction comes...

But between what happens and what we do about it, there's a tiny space.

That's the bit we're teaching Tigers to control.

Stop.
Listen.
Wait.
Choose what to do next.

At school, that same ability can mean the difference between:
“I can't do this!”
and
“Can you help me?”

That's why self-control matters.

WE ASKED: “WHAT DOES A TEACHER REALLY WANT?”
Probably not:
❌ The world's fastest runner
❌ The loudest child
❌ The child who can do 47 karate kicks

Probably:
✅ Someone who listens
✅ Someone who can wait
✅ Someone who follows instructions
✅ Someone who can control their body
✅ Someone who can concentrate

Funny thing...

Those are exactly the behaviours our Tiger instructors work on every week.

Martial arts isn't school.

But the habits practised in martial arts can help children be ready to learn when they're at school.

The tigers have been expressing tonight how excited they are to get back to school 😉.

We know we’ve got amazing Tigers who will take their super concentration and discipline they display in Martial Arts into class and other aspects of their lives!!!

That’s why they are all absolute Superstars 🤩🤩🤩

POV: It's the first day back at school.

Your little one walks through the school gates.

New term.
New classroom.
New instructions.
New routines.

And underneath all of that are some very simple skills:
Listen.
Wait.
Follow instructions.
Control your body.
Stay focused.

Those are exactly the kinds of behaviours we practise in our Tiger classes.

Not because we're trying to turn 5-year-olds into tiny adults.

Because they're learning how to learn.

And that is a pretty useful skill to take through the school gates.

Welcome back, Tigers. 🐯

PARENTS: TRY THIS THIS WEEKEND.

Ask your child to:
Stand still.
Listen carefully.
Wait until you've finished speaking.
Follow three instructions.

Then ask:
“Was that easy?”

If the answer was...
😂 NO!..welcome to the world of teaching young children.

Our Tiger classes practise these skills constantly.

Not with boring drills.

Through games, movement and martial arts activities.

Because before children can learn what's on the page, they need to be able to listen to what's being said.
