Weekly Match Round-Up!

It was another week of league tennis, with our teams competing in the Bolton and Leigh leagues.

Monday night’s Bolton Men’s League brought two tough fixtures. The A team unfortunately lost 7-2 at home to Holcombe Brook C, while the B team narrowly lost 5-4 away at Hawkshaw C.

Tuesday was a fantastic evening for our Bolton Mixed League teams. The A team recorded an outstanding 9-0 home win over Markland Hill C, while the B team also enjoyed an excellent result, winning 8-1 away at Markland Hill D. Congratulations to both teams on two superb performances! 👏

Our Leigh Mixed League team were also in action on Tuesday in the first round of the Wisden Cup, following the conclusion of the league season. The team secured a 45-39 victory over Parr Fold to progress to the next round. Well done to everyone involved!

With the Walkden League season now complete, many of the players came together on Wednesday evening for a celebration and some social tennis. It was a great way to round off another enjoyable season and celebrate everyone’s efforts throughout the year.

🎾 Critchley Cup 2026 🎾

What a fantastic day at Tyldesley Tennis Club for this year’s Summer Social and Critchley Cup.

The Critchley Cup is held in memory of Brian Critchley, a much-loved member of our club who is greatly missed.

This year’s contest saw 🔴 The Red Devils take on 🔵 Strictly RAF, with two Men’s Doubles, two Ladies’ Doubles and two Mixed Doubles matches making up the competition. There was some excellent tennis on display throughout the day, with plenty of closely fought matches and great team spirit.

Congratulations to The Red Devils, who came out on top to win this year’s Critchley Cup! 🏆

A huge thank you to Gail for all of the hard work that went into organising another fantastic event, and to Pantelis for keeping everyone fed by manning the BBQ throughout the day.

Thank you to everyone who came along, whether you were playing, supporting or helping behind the scenes. It was another successful day for the club, and we hope everyone enjoyed the occasion! 🎾

Weekly Match Round-Up!

There were plenty of positives for our Tyldesley teams this week, with some excellent league results and a fantastic Walkden League Cup victory for our ladies’ A team.

Monday night in the Bolton Men’s League brought two good results for Tyldesley. The A team recorded a 6-3 away win over Leigh B, while the B secured a 5-4 win at home to Monton B.

In the Bolton Mixed League on Tuesday, the A team produced an excellent performance to win 8-1 away at Holcombe Brook C. The B team travelled to Lostock D but unfortunately lost 6-3.

Wednesday was the Walkden League Cup Final, with our ladies’ A team taking on David Lloyd A at home. It was a close match, but Tyldesley came out on top with a fantastic 36-29 victory to lift the Walkden League Cup. Congratulations to everyone involved on a brilliant achievement!

Looking ahead to this weekend, we’re hosting a Summer Social on Saturday, with the Critchley Cup taking place throughout the day. Everyone is welcome to come along. There will be a BBQ, and it’s just £5 per person. We hope to see you there!

Weekly Match Round-Up!

It was another busy week for our league teams, with fixtures across the Bolton and Walkden leagues.

Monday night in the Bolton Men’s League, the A team recorded a 6-3 home win over Astley & Tyldesley A. Unfortunately, the B team’s match was cancelled.

In the Bolton Mixed League on Tuesday, the A team recorded a 6-3 home win over Hawkshaw B. The B team travelled to Holcombe Brook D but unfortunately lost 7-2.

Wednesday was Walkden League Cup semi-final night, with all four Tyldesley teams in action. The men’s A team lost 32-12 away to Worsley A. The ladies’ A team came through a very close match to win 24-22 and secure their place in the final. The men’s B team narrowly lost 32-30 away at Leigh C, while the ladies’ B team lost 25-14 at home to Monton A.

Well done to everyone who represented Tyldesley this week!

Just a reminder that our Leigh Mixed League team are in action tonight. Only one court will be available from approximately 6:15pm to 8:15pm, so please bear this in mind if you’re planning to come down for a hit!

What a fantastic week of tennis at the 2026 Bolton Tennis Tournament!

Firstly, a huge well done to all of our Tyldesley Tennis Club members who took part throughout the week. There was some fantastic tennis on display, and it was great to see so many of our members competing across a range of events while also coming down to support one another throughout the tournament.

A special congratulations goes to Holly Wilson and Amy Wilson, who were crowned Ladies’ Handicap Doubles Champions. 🏆🎉

Finally, a big thank you to all of the organisers, volunteers and everyone who helped make the tournament another huge success. We really appreciate all the hard work that goes into putting on such a fantastic event each year!

Congratulations to Holy Family on winning this year’s ATSA Tennis Competition!

It was fantastic to welcome local schools to Tyldesley Tennis Club. We hope everyone had a brilliant day and enjoyed taking part!

Congratulations to Holy Family who won our final event of the year: the ATSA Tennis Competition. Thanks to Alan and all from Tyldesley Tennis Club for hosting and organising this event.

Weekly Match Round-Up!

It was another great week of league tennis for Tyldesley, with some excellent performances.

Monday’s Bolton Men’s League proved to be a successful evening for Tyldesley. The A team travelled to Meadow Hill and secured a 7-2 victory, while the B team recorded a fantastic 9-0 home win over Walmer C.

Tuesday’s Bolton Mixed League saw mixed fortunes. The A team were unfortunately beaten 7-2 away at Lostock C, while the B team secured a hard-fought 5-4 home win against Meadow Hill.

Our Tyldesley team competing in the Leigh Mixed League travelled to Parr Fold and were unfortunately beaten 3.5-2.5.

Wednesday saw the start of the Walkden League Cup. The B team received a bye into the next round, while the A team travelled to David Lloyd B. It was a hugely successful evening, with both the men’s and ladies’ teams progressing comfortably. The men’s team won 32-9 and the ladies’ team won 32-8, meaning both teams safely progressed to the next round.

A big well done to everyone who represented the club this week.

Looking ahead to next week, our courts will be much quieter than usual due to the pause in the Bolton and Walkden leagues for the 2026 Bolton Tennis Tournament. This will give members plenty of opportunities to get on court for a hit. The only exceptions are Tuesday afternoon, when the courts will be in use for a school sports competition, and Tuesday evening, when our Leigh Mixed League team will be in action.

It was fantastic to welcome Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association to Tyldesley Tennis Club this week for their tennis taster session.

It was lovely to see so many young people enjoying tennis out in the sunshine and fresh air. We hope everyone enjoyed the session and we look forward to welcoming them back next Tuesday for the ATSA Tennis Competition.

As a club, we’re always proud to support opportunities that help introduce more young people in our community to tennis and encourage them to get active.

Weekly Match Round-Up!

It was another eventful week for our league teams, with a mixture of victories, bye weeks and some frustrating weather interruptions.

Monday's Bolton Men's League saw the A team secure a hard-fought 5-4 home victory over Bellingham in a closely contested match. The B team had a bye week and will be back in action next week.

Tuesday's Bolton Mixed League fixtures were unfortunately disrupted by the weather. The A team's home match against David Lloyd C was called off due to the rain, while the B team had a bye week. Our Tyldesley team competing in the Leigh Mixed League also had their match postponed because of the wet weather.

Wednesday marked the final round of the Walkden Mixed League season, and both Tyldesley teams finished on a high. The A team secured a thrilling one-game victory over Leigh A, winning 37-36, while the B team rounded off their league campaign with a 44-36 win over Eagley.

Congratulations to both Walkden teams on a fantastic league season. The A team finished 3rd in Division One, while the B team finished 2nd in Division Two. A brilliant achievement by both teams, and now it's on to the cup competition! 👏
