Group sizes were small, so there was plenty of opportunity for individual feedback & everyone left having learnt things they can apply to their climbing in the future πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“

A great option for those who can't be in Manchester regularly, or prefer more independence in their training! We will begin with a 2.5 hour benchmarking session, testing your physical attributes and assessing your technique. πŸ’ƒπŸ€Έ

Based on this, you'll be given a wholly personalised training plan taking into account your physical and technical strengths and weaknesses, as well as the time and facilities available to you. πŸ‹

Weekly coach feedback will be available through shared training diary, and your progress will be reviewed regularly and training focusses adjusted accordingly. πŸ“ˆ

I am SO excited to share this! I'll be running a workshop on dynamic movement at Depot Manchester on 6th May, 3:00pm - 4:30pm.

We'll go back to basics and break the movement down, then look at some drills to help build confidence in this type of move.

It'll cost Β£17.50pp, and the maximum ratio is 1:8.

✨ PREMIUM COACHING ✨

What is it?

In short, it's the highest level of training support I offer, including both a bespoke training plan, and weekly 1:1 coaching sessions.

🧠 COACHING 🧠

The coaching side includes:

β–ͺ️ 6 hours of 1:1 coaching over 4 sessions, usually weekly 1.5h sessions.
β–ͺ️ Flexibility with timings and session lengths to fit around your other commitments (family, work, friends etc.)
β–ͺ️ Remote coach support between sessions; any questions, queries or updates, I'm here to help you when you need it

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ TRAINING πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

You'll be written a bespoke training plan taking into account:

β–ͺ️ Your goals, available time to train, and the timescale for achieving them
β–ͺ️ Physical and technical ability
β–ͺ️ Training history
β–ͺ️ The facilities available to you

This plan is written in 4 week blocks, and is continually adaptable to your needs throughout our time working together.

All of this costs Β£125 per 4 week block, with a minimum commitment of 8 weeks. This can be paid upfront or per block.

πŸ› οΈ My favourite drill for building core strength πŸ› οΈ

To do this, find yourself a steep boulder that's a comfortable grade for you, and climb it cutting loose every move! πŸ’ͺ

To make this more challenging use a combination of the following:

1) make it steeper πŸ“ˆ
2) use worse footholds πŸ‘£
3) only use footholds to either side of your climb β¬…οΈβž‘οΈ
4) pick footholds which are lower or further away ⬇️

⚠️ Warning ⚠️

Whilst this drill is great at increasing core strength in a climbing specific way & improving accuracy of foot placements, overuse may ingrain less efficient movement patterns, so make sure you're getting in plenty of quality movement practice as well! πŸ’ƒ

Hey everyone!

It's that time of year again where people set goals for the year ahead, so here's my thoughts on how to set good targets, and make progress towards them! 🎯

WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE?

Write yourself a list of the goals you'd like to achieve in 2023. Try to have a mixture of 'performance goals' and 'process goals'. For example, your performance goal could be to onsight 7b sport, and the process goal to help you get there could be to hit a max hang of +20kg. Try to make sure your goals don't rely on uncontrollable variables, such as limited training equipment. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

WHAT WILL HELP ME ACHIEVE THIS?

What specific things will help you with these goals? Do you need accountability from a friend, or maybe a coach? What actions can you take to maximise your chances of success? πŸ‘―

WHAT OBSTACLES WILL I FACE?

Think about previous years, why you achieved your goals, or why you didn't. What were the biggest factors determining this? Are there any aspects of your life that make achieving your goals difficult? ⛰️

HOW CAN I OVERCOME THEM?

The most important question! What actions can you realistically take both within your training sessions, and in your life that will reduce or remove these obstacles? πŸ’ͺ

This drill is fantastic at forcing you to climb outside of your comfort zone & also perform upon command, so perfect for anyone training for comps, or even climbing outdoor projects when there's a limited time or conditions window. ❄️

See how many different betas you can find for a single climb. Try methods you'd usually shy away from - if you're a super static climber and love crimping footholds, can you make some bigger, more dynamic moves? Conversely, if you're a sucker for big compy moves, can you find a static solution? 🦎

πŸ”Ή Stage 2 πŸ”Ή

Now you'll need to work each method until it's smooth and you can do it consistently. Try to execute each method one after the other, without any falls, as I do in the video.
