This signing is special. Ethan came to our Friday night development group in February 2025, as a very raw u12 player. He worked hard and earned a place playing up a year with our u14s in the JPL this season. His performances and attitude gained him interest from several pro clubs, but he was determined to prove himself at Burnley. He performed fantastic in his trial and has now signed. Everyone at Spotted By is massively proud of Ethan, we look forward to seeing him in action next season. Well done Ethan!!!!

After receiving 36 quality applications and completing a thorough interview process, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Matty German as the new First Team Manager of Abbey Hey FC.

Pictured alongside Matty is his new First Team Coach, Trey Simpson, as the club begins an exciting new chapter both on and off the pitch. Matty will be joined by Paul Davis as his assistant.

Matty brings a wealth of experience from a successful playing career across the non-league pyramid, representing several clubs including Abbey Hey. His career seen him compete at various levels of the semi pro pyramid winning the nwcfl and cup.

Following his playing career, Matty has quickly established himself as one of the region’s brightest young coaches. During the 2024/25 season, he guided his U18 side to both the league title and league cup success in the EMJFL. This season, his side currently sit top of the North West Youth Alliance league and have also reached the Open Cup Final.

Matty’s passion, leadership, standards and deep understanding of the non-league game made him the outstanding candidate for the role.

Huge congratulations to our U15 keeper James, who has successfully signed for Burnley Football Club James joined us last season, his performances showed what a talented player he is. Working with our coaches, including GK coach Liam Stoneley James has kicked on this season, following a clean sheet playing for our u18s he got his opportunity at Burnley. We are running a summer league starting next month. Entries are open now, central Manchester venue (3G astro). League will run over 8 weeks, 9v9 or 7v7 (depending on age group).
