Next up this Sunday we play Duke in the quarter final of the divisional cup, the round before saw us knock out Rochdalians 2nds and now we take on our local rivals for already the 3rd time this season.

We’ve managed to knock them out of the League Cup and take all 3 points in our home tie in the league.

And we aim for nothing less again on Sunday as we want to go one step further this year in the divisional cup and win it 🏆

🏆 League Result-
AFC Radcliffe 1 vs 3 Heywood Athletic

Big win today away at redvales against Radcliffe who was sitting in top spot prior to todays game.

We started off strong and finally took our chance as Ryan slotted a penalty away to give us the lead we needed and went in 1-0 up at half time.

With 30 to go Ryan managed to get another goal with some good play from Louis and jack, last 10 minutes saw Gilly get on the score sheet and give us a nice lead going into the final minutes which unfortunately then led to a lapse in concentration from the team and we lost out on the clean sheet.

Regardless off the last minute goal we came out on top and move back into top spot, we now see out November with 2 cup games back to back before taking on game c**k twice in December which will be crucial games for both sides.

Liam pullen - controlled the midfield today and put in a solid shift aswell as providing a shield for the defence from the Radcliffe forwards.

🏆 League Result-
Heywood Athletic 1 vs 4 Clayton Athletic

Tough one to take today losing our last 2 league games and falling off top spot.

Overall today we had countless chances a missed penalty and 2 goals given as offside which was very debatable all being said Clayton’s keeper pulled off a bunch off class saves to keep heywood out.

Another day it would have been very different but we couldn’t take our chances and made mistakes which cost us, to add to that the referee had a shocker today couldn’t keep up with the play and was listening to every shout and making his decisions based off It.

We go again next week away at AFC Radcliffe who have now gone top of the table so it’s a must win for heywood!

🏆 Christine Robinson Memorial League Cup Result-
Heywood Athletic 4 vs 2 Duke Of Wellington

Kicked off our first game of the cup with a win today, again the first 45 was solid from heywood with us getting on the front foot within the first couple minutes with Ibra slotting home with bens assist.

From that moment we kicked on and led 4-1 going into half time with yet another hatrick from Ryan, we never really looked in danger today and second half we managed to hold but duke managed to grab another goal to bring the score to 4-2.. nothing much our keeper could of done as the duke number 9 scored a screamer.

3rd round of the cup will be played at the end of November with our opposition yet to be confirmed.

Next week we return back to the league fixtures against Clayton Athletic who managed to do the double on us last season and finished just above us in the table, we will be looking to come away with all 3 points.

Man of the match today goes to ryan who yet again secured another hatrick🏆

Sunday we go again in another cup game at home against fellow heywood side Duke of wellington in the 2nd round.

We look to give a good account of ourself in this cup and we make our first step this Sunday.

🏆 Divisional Cup Result-
Heywood Athletic 7 vs 5 Rochdalians 2nds

Goals galore today at bowlee with heywood moving into the quarter finals and will face Duke of wellington.

We played outstanding the first 45 minutes with heywood banging in 7 goals in the first half and conceding one sloppy goal, The lads played some quality football and it looked like the game was put to bed.

But rochdalians came out second half wanting it more than we did as we switched off completely and they clawed back another 4 in the second half to make it 7-5.

We need to learn from the last 2 weeks and the errors we’ve made collectively if we want to kick on this season and push for the title and go one better this year and win the cup.

Man of the match today goes to jay sung park who gave a tireless effort and didn’t stop pressing and driving the team on 🏆
