"Out of form"
What does it really mean?
It's a case of a player (or a team as a whole) being disconnected from their talent on some level.
Usually when a player experiences poor form, we find there are a few things going on:
-Fear
-Tension
-Overthinking
The player is out of the flow they experience when they're at their best- they stop doing what is natural and in many cases try to force things.
Hard work is often considered the way to get back into form- but working harder often makes things worse, as it results in you getting stuck in your head to an even greater degree.
It's important to rediscover the trust in yourself- to relax as much as possible and to become really present in the moment.
Remember why you started playing the game and re-emphasise ENJOYMENT- no matter what level you play at.
Remind yourself that the dip is only temporary and that it WILL all come back.
Creating a powerful pre-match routine that includes positive visualisation with emotion and the use of techniques to release stress and anxiety can be extremely helpful to rediscover your best and to build greater consistency.
