π€ Let's assume Marcus Rashford remains at Manchester United next season.
Who starts on the left wing: Matheus Cunha or Rashford?
The answer should be simple: whoever performs best, not whoever has the bigger name.
Cunha wasn't signed to sit on the bench. He was brought in because of his intensity, versatility, work rate, and ability to fit the manager's tactical demands. Any new signing arriving for a significant fee is expected to compete for a starting role immediately.
As for Rashford, the biggest question isn't his talent, it's consistency. Everyone knows what he can do at his best. The issue is whether he can rediscover that level regularly and prove he deserves a place in the team.
If Rashford returns, he shouldn't walk straight back into the XI based on past achievements. He should earn his spot like everyone else.
That's exactly how successful squads operate.
The more interesting debate isn't Cunha vs Rashford.
It's whether United can create an environment where both players push each other to higher levels rather than turning the conversation into a guaranteed starter versus guaranteed backup.
One thing is certain, reputation shouldn't decide the left-wing position, performance should. [X- UnitedRedem]
