The 4th XI travelled to Cutnall Green CC who won the toss and chose to bat first. Broderick Strachan (4-42) was in the wickets again tearing through the top 4, Q Butt lbw for 3, H Iqbal bowled for 3, Azam caught by Harry Hulls for 1 and Ayub caught by his dad Chris. S Khalid was joined by Zaib who got the Cutnall Green innings back on track. S Khalid was caught by Chris Strachan off Luca Drinkwater for 14 bringing M Butt to the crease and it was he who dominated the scoring from then on. Zaib was bowled by Drinkwater for 42. James Cooper had M Iqbal caught by Chris Strachan for 16. Simon Brownlee had M Butt caught by Alistair Champkins for a fine 71 and Harry Hulls chipped in with the wicket of A Khalid clean bowled for 1. Cutnall Green were bowled out for 197 in the 33rd over.

Owen Gregory hit 14 before he was the first wicket to fall in the Green run chase, caught by M Butt of Zaib, James Leaver was joined by Alistair Champkins and this pair put on 60 before Champkins was bowled by Ayub for 26. Craig Williams fell next trapped lbw by Ayub for 5. James Leaver brought up his half century but was then next out – again lbw to Ayub for 60. The Green were 109-4 in the 25th over when Luca Drinkwater joined Lola Stimson. Regular wickets stalled the Green reply. Stimson was run out for 5 by M Iqbal, Drinkwater was bowled by Azam for 5 and Broderick Strachan was bowled by M Butt for 10. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Chris Strachan (20no) and Simon Brownlee (17no) the Green fell 22 runs short on 175-7 at the end of their 40 overs.

At Newland the visitors Wormelow won the toss and chose to bowl. Acting captain Leon Everett was first out after hitting three boundaries – bowled by Forrest for 12. Elliot Wilson joined Rob Wilson with the score on 17. This pair added a fantastic 102 runs in 15 overs, Wilson had just reached his half century before Perkins was bowled by Jones for 26. Wilson and partner Lewis Regan continued to score at a good rate until the 30th over when Wilson was caught by Bloomfield for 93 (79 balls,13 fours and 2 sixes). Josh Everett joined Regan with the score on 191-3, a further 31 was added before Regan was caught by Nadeem off Pennington for 31. Nick McAndrew hit a rapid 20 before he was also caught by Nadeem this time off Harris. George Beswick joined Josh Everett with the score on 273-5 in the 40th over. Everett reached his half century, he and Beswick were able to add a further 48 in the final 5 overs. The Green ended on 321-5, Beswick was 11 no and Josh Everett ended 86 no (59 balls,12 fours and 1 six).

The Wormelow openers put on 80 in the first 17 overs before Ant Eyles broke the partnership – he clean bowled Gunn for 25, just 2 balls later L Jones was heading back to the pavilion caught by Dave Sutton without scoring. O Jones and Nadeem added 64 before O Jones was caught by Elliot Perkins off Dave Sutton. Another fine piece of fielding from Perkins led to the run out of Nadeem for 15 and Sutton grabbed the wicket of Bloomfield (7) caught by A Eyles, leaving Wormelow 164 for 5 after 32 overs. The required run rate was now sitting at over 12 an over. Inkin and Forrest tried their best, but the Green bowlers stuck to their task. Hayden Golder took the wickets of both set batters, Forrest (28) caught by Rob Wilson and Inkin clean bowled for 64. Wormelow ended on 266-7 at the end of their 45 overs to give the Green 20 points.

Himley CC were the visitors to North End for the 2nd XI’s 9th game of the season. Himley won the toss and chose to bat first, and openers Passmore and Boroughs set a good foundation for the innings. It took the introduction of Max Bentley to bring the first breakthrough with the score on 94 when he clean bowled Passmore for 40. Boroughs and Bowen added 34 before the Bowen (15) was also bowled by Bentley. Four more wickets fell for 16 runs as Himley went from 141-2 to 157-6. Two more were taken by Bentley as Boroughs was caught by Jevan Kher at mid-wicket for 72 and Small was caught by Ben Sutton at wide long-on for 7. Freddie Ammonds chipped in with the wicket of Purshouse bowled for a duck and Jon Dovey ran out Klair for 12. Southern and Hopkins added 41 before Bentley grabbed his fifth trapping Hopkins lbw for 28, just 2 balls later he took his sixth as Cookson was stumped by keeper Ben Wheeler without scoring. Himley ended on 201-8 and Bentley finished with 6-56.

The Green were 63-3 in the 14th over after losing the top three of Sam Williams run out for 11, Jevan Kher caught by Small off Boroughs for 30 and Sam Clements bowled by Hopkins for 18. This brought Jay Styles in to join Freddie Ammonds. With a required run rate of less than 4 an over there was time for some consolidation – especially when some big hitters in reserve. The score passed 100 in the 30th over and 150 in the 40th over. Ammonds brought up his 50 with a boundary through mid-wicket but was caught by Southern at cover off Cookson the very next ball for 52. Styles fell in the next over for 42 bowled by Jeavons leaving the Green 177-5 in the 43rd over with Ben Wheeler and Ben Sutton at the crease. They hit the remaining 24 runs in 2.5 overs to give the Green 24 points.
