This week weβre pleased to announce that Harry completed his 2 year apprenticeship and passed his final exam with distinction π Well done Harry, now a fully qualified greenkeeper, he has worked so hard since he joined us and always been keen to learn, definitely got the results he deserved.
This week we have finally seen a good amount of rain and temperatures have cooled by around 10 degrees C. Giving respite to the course, but feels like summer is quickly on its way out. Now we are into the recovery phase. Trying to
get grass coverage back to a reasonable level before winter hits, otherwise we will have a lot of bare muddy tees and fairways come winter golf. We have applied fertiliser to tees and plan to overseed in the future. Greens are being over sown and further fertiliser will be applied. Bunkers have been checked for sand distribution and topped up where needed.
The 22nd tee has been completed and sown with a rye/ fescue mix, now with the wetter weather this should grow in quickly and be ready for play at the start of the 2027 season. The area around the 25th path has also been seeded.
Finally with a few bigger competitions the course has been mowed and with slight growth there is better definition and looking great considering the dry summer.
