DVASC are on the lookout for a Level 2 Qualified Swimming Teacher to volunteer their time on Tuesday evenings, 7–8pm.

This is a great opportunity to:
✨ Share your skills and experience with our swimmers.
✨ Support a friendly, community-focused club.
✨ Make a real difference to young swimmers’ development.

We’re a volunteer-run club, and your help would be hugely appreciated by our swimmers, coaches, and parents.

Derwent Valley Swimming Club had a fantastic weekend at the Scarborough Spring Splash event, with 15 enthusiastic swimmers taking part. The team delivered outstanding performances, bringing home an impressive 20 medals and earning 9 speeding tickets—awarded to swimmers who surpassed the cut-off times with their speed. In addition to the medals and speeding tickets, the club celebrated a remarkable 31 personal bests, showcasing the hard work and progress of each swimmer. It was a proud and successful outing for the team!

On Sunday we took 8 courageous swimmers across to the 50m pool in Leeds for the New Years Festival Open Meet. For all of them it was their first time in a 50m pool and they performed incredibly well! PBs for everyone, and even a couple of medals!! I’m so proud of each one of them for being brave and trying something outside of their comfort zone. Well done Team Derwent!

On Friday, we had our Derwent Valley AGM meeting. It was great to see a few new faces and have some new ideas put forward to support the club in the future. Some of the things we discussed included:
-Celebrating a swimmer of the month.
-Holding a swimming gala for each Stage.
-Some of our teenage swimmers are eager to complete their Level 1.
-Can we support the club financially, through fundraising?
-Can anyone support poolside at squad meets, help coach or cover the coaches if absent?

Without the support of parents, coaches, the committee and the local community, the club would not be able to run successfully. If anyone else would like to be involved with supporting the club or has any ideas how we can improve it further, please get in touch.

What a weekend! This was everything I love about coaching these kids.
18 kids - all smiling and laughing.
44 PBs, 30 medals, and 7 speeding medals.
3 of our swimmers made it into the Skins competition, and our very own Kate won - she is a Junior Girls Skins Champion!
I could not be more proud. Go Team Derwent!

In June this year I sent out a personal plea asking for help. Because this club is run on volunteers, and for the last 3 years that I have been running this club, the majority of tasks have fallen to myself, or a handful of others.
Out of 110 kids, I recruited 3 parents and 1 community member to help me. I am so grateful to those 3, and the 6 other committee members who have supported me these last 6 months.
Unfortunately, the reality is that this is still not enough, and the majority of both poolside and admin tasks are still resting on my shoulders. I love these kids and I love this club, I want to do everything I can to keep it going – but I need more help.
Our club AGM is 29th November at 7pm, venue Malton/Norton Golf Club. Please arrive before 7pm so that we can start promptly. I would personally love to see some of you come along to have your voice in the future of our club, and hopefully even volunteer just an hour or 2 every couple of weeks to help me move this club forward. If you’re able to help us, please consider coming along ☺️

Oscar is our first 10 mile swimmer!!! Since September he has swam over 16,100km!! Remember our 10 mile challenge is on-going, simply bring your tracking sheets to the session and get them signed off by the coach.

Everyone Active will be checking the pool tomorrow so there is a chance that Tuesday's sessions won't go ahead - please check here before coming to your lesson.
