We had a surprise but welcome Spanish visitor this evening.

Neil is a coach from Jero Team Boxing Club in Terrassa , Northern Spain .

He has family in Malmesbury and is here on holiday. He arrived at the gym and asked if he could watch our session.

The Boxing gym is always a welcoming one so we invited him to help coach some of our boxers doing pad work.

It was great for them and I think Neil enjoyed it.

He is welcome any time at our gym.

Thank you to our friends at Ringside Boxing in Gibraltar for putting Jasper Smith through his paces this week as he trains for forthcoming bouts .

Later this month he competes in the Bristol Golden Gloves tournament and then next month returns to Gibraltar for a tough bout there.

Lester and his fellow coaches kindly guided Jasper’s dad to a nearby bar afterwards , so win win all round really 😃😃👍

It’s a tough sport, it’s tough training and it’s not for the faint-hearted.

We’ve seen alleged ‘hard cases’ fail to cope with the sport , and we’ve seen the quietest , inoffensive people become hardened champions.

As the new season is almost upon us, we have a limited number of spaces available to those seeking to become competitive boxers .

We have spaces at schools, junior, youth and senior classes. The minimum age is 8, and the age limit for amateur boxing is 40yrs old.

Looking for independent boxing fans that wish to judge at amateur boxing shows. You do not need to be with a boxing club.

Full training given FREE.
Including being initially shadowed at amateur shows.

DBS procedure applies.
Can be sorted after the course.

Reasonable travel expenses paid for shows.

Totally voluntary do as many as you wish on a show by show basis.

A very long day in extreme heat , but Jasper didn’t let anyone down this evening.

He’s desperately disappointed but has to take a lot of positives from his performance in a very close points loss.

He’s still early in his boxing education, and has only just turned 15.

I can see that when all his learning and gathered experience clicks together, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. The fact he is disappointed just shows how much he cares .

He controlled the bout well and showed more aggression than in previous bouts he’s won and his work rate was much better this evening.

He put his opponent under pressure throughout catching him with some great shots in a very very close bout .

He was having the better of the final and deciding round when , with only half a minute left, he got caught with a hook, but responded with a stinging uppercut.

Unfortunately the ref gave Jasper a standing count which ultimately swung the points to his opponent .

He’d had a very long day, after a lot of travelling and in extreme heat. Jasper showed no signs of that affecting his performance . He boxed really well.

I’m proud of how he performed and so should he be.🥊🥊🥊
