TRAINING CANCELLED TOMORROW ( TUESDAY 23rd JUNE )

I’m here in the middle of a thunderstorm having had a family barbecue cancelled ( Mr.Lucky).

In view of the anticipated extreme heat ( apparently) tomorrow….. and the fact there is something called a “ football ball game” involving some overpaid sportsmen happening …… tomorrow’s training is cancelled…..

I will be in the Malmesbury Victoria fan zone meeting anyone who doesn’t see this post …..

Thank you to the people and boxing club members of Malmesbury, Chippenham Scaffolding, visiting clubs,officials,sponsors,helpers, Malmesbury Victoria FC, DB Ring Hire and Professional Commonwealth Champion Megan Redstall, for making yesterdays outdoor show such a great spectacle.

A full report on what was an amazing day of boxing with some great contests will follow.

Loved these photos of some of our younger boxers ( Adam and Finn aged 10yrs old) who were buzzing with excitement after making their first appearances at a home show .

A special mention for Ollie Smith, Wayne Kibble and Brendon Rice.They were a massive help to me in organising this event when you sometimes feel a little lonely !

This has actually been one of the hardest shows yet to put together and without their support I’m not sure we’d have made it such a success.

Only the William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland to go now before the season closes……. Then next stop is Morocco in August ……..🥊🥊🥊

Thanks to Team Tiger for this action of Malmesbury’s Denham Jobling in his International Belt Tournament final win against a French National team boxer . Denham secured a points victory to make it 28 wins in 29 contests.

A lovely day for an outdoor show where we had two boxers in action.

Morris Machin had a tough bout with Ronnie Straker from CBS . It was a well matched contest but Straker was slightly quicker to the punch and took a points win.

17yr old Theo Seafield was making his amateur boxing debut against Regan Perry from Kingswood .

The first round was pretty even but as the bout went on, Regan’s fitness began to tell and he took a points decision at the end of the bout.

Theo was able to experience the level of fitness he needs to attain, but did very well for his first bout.

Next week is our home show…..🙂👍👍

MID DAY TIL LATE !!

BOXING FOLLOWED BY LIVE MUSIC !

Malmesbury Boxing Club, in conjunction with our good friends at Malmesbury Victoria FC have got together to put on a great event for the town.

Malmesbury boxers will kick off the proceedings competing against boxers from around the country .

This will be followed by live music from “The Dog House” pumping out rock and pop for your entertainment.

Then Ben Chilman will lead some fantastic House Music artists in a ‘Summer Jam’ to take you into the late evening .

Whole day tickets ( Boxing & Music )
£20 adults
£10 U-16

Available from Malmesbury Victoria FC bar or Malmesbury Boxing Gym or on the day on entry

Evening only tickets can be purchased on the door at £8 each

This weekend was spent in Hertfordshire attending the ABA International Belt Tournament . Around 250 contests over two days featuring boxers from around Europe .

A full report will follow but we came away with two belt winners….

Denham Jobling was superb in beating an excellent French opponent who is part of the French national team and an Olympic contender.

Denham has professional boxing aspirations , and promoters really need to take a look at this talented 19yr old .

14yr old Jasper Smith also put in a great and gritty performance in his final against Ralphi Orsini from London to come away with a belt . After being the ‘nearly man’ for so long, it was a great moment to finally see him get reward for his dedication .

A fantastic achievement, and a very proud moment for the boxers ,their families, and the club ….🥊🥊🥊

This event will showcase Malmesbury’s boxing talent .

We’re a club with limited funds and the whole event costs us around £6,000 to stage.

We would really welcome any more local businesses who can support our talented young boxers.

South West England team v Scotland

Malmesbury’s Morris Machin travelled up to this incredible venue to represent South West England against a strong Scotland team.

He came up against Jacob Robb who had only lost to one opponent in almost twenty bouts.

It was clear in the opening round that Morris was slightly overawed by the occasion and allowed his opponent to bully him, with persistent wild ( and what I would call illegal) ‘slapping’ punches .

In the second , Morris began to settle and his performance improved substantially as the bout progressed.

His opponent got the decision but it’s a bout we’d entertain in future.

Respect to Jacob (despite the behaviour of his coach who ,quite frankly , didn’t represent his nation well 🙄 .) 🥊🥊

Last night Zach Corbett and Jacob Liddington were in action in Devon .

Zach came up against Ronnie Straker from CBS in Plymouth .

After a slow start , Zach stepped up a gear in the second and third round and whilst he didn’t get the decision , has set this bout up nicely for the return on our show in June.

Jacob met the very experienced Eric Ridd from Barnstaple but boxed smartly over the three rounds to take the victory in what is looking like Eric’s final appearance in his home town .

The 2026 ABA 67-71kg Senior Elite champion .

Denham Jobling secured his tenth title today to add to box cup championships, regional championships , national youth titles. , and international box cup titles to name just a few.

He’s approaching 30 bouts with only one ( debatable) loss on his record and is on a highway to the professional game within the next two years .

Our 19 year old still hasn’t hit full maturity in physical strength etc and another year or two in the amateur game will help his progression to the professional ranks.

Today he faced a very good and experienced opponent in Keaton Young from Leo’s Lions ABC in London .

Keaton was frustrated by Denham’s speed , accuracy and footwork but gave Denham a tough three rounds.

Denham got the vote from all three judges to add the ABA title to his list of achievements.

It is the third time Malmesbury have won this weight category in the last five years with Jacob Liddington having won it twice previously .

Well deserved success for a skilful dedicated boxer. Congratulations .

Respect to Keaton for taking up the challenge and for giving Denham a tough bout.
