A thriving village cricket club, always on the lookout for new players. Senior teams: Saturday League (Wiltshire league, division 4)Sunday Friendly (established fixture list often at home ground), Winter Indoor League at Chippenham. ⭐️Sherston 202- Devises 81⭐️
What a game! Brilliant performance all round last night.
Red hot fielding and bowling restricted Devises to only 4 boundary’s. We took 9 wickets, 5 of which were in Tea’s overs ⭐️ and 4 in one over!!!!! Rachael T and Rachael J both took a super caught and bowled in their overs.
Kate Potter hot behind the wickets took at least one stumping as well as communicating very well to the team. and I lost count of the number of run outs! Sarah and Nicky bowled very well with lots of dot balls.
Everyone fielded superbly backing up each others throws and fielding in pairs.
Outstanding batting against some tricky pea roller bowling at times made scoring difficult a lot of the time. We’ve learnt as a team to take the 2 runs for a wide instead of chasing the ball. Some very well placed shots from Heather allowed quick singles and Penny to get back in strike and score 39 runs.
Great work team! Thank you to coaches Alan and Caroline and Andrew for umpiring.

We suffer our first league defeat of the season.

A batting innings of many starts without conversion, we combined to reach a respectable 195 all out.

Beckington however batted well on their own pitch to knock off the runs with 7 overs to spare.

This result leaves us third in the league. The 2s remain top of division 11 after a walkover.

Here’s how SMCC lineup for 2 big games this Saturday 💪

With both teams looking to keep their 100% records alive, the 1s travel to newly promoted Beckington whilst the 2s host Heytesbury & Sutton Veny 2s.

With some lovely weather ahead and the bar open, get yourself down to Pinkney Park to give us some support!

Another league win sees the 1s go top of the league!

A strong performance all round, with Ash and Greg combining for a 116 run partnership to leave us with a solid score of 184.

The bowlers made sure the oppo never got a sniff, with Matt getting us off to a flying start by removing their danger man early on. A short resistance followed, but after the second wicket fell with Malford on 48, the Halls combined to run through the rest of their batting lineup, bringing home the win in the 29th over.

We maintain our 100% win record as a club, with both teams sitting top of their respective leagues!

Two great results this Saturday with both teams picking up wins.

A dominant bowling performance from the 1s saw Biddestone fall to 71ao, with Ben, Greg, and Alan taking 3 each. They wasted no time in the chasing, cruising to the target in 13 overs.

A much closer game for the 2s saw Mark get his first 50 for the club, helping them to 181 from their 40. The game then looked to be in the balance for most of the second innings, but the decisive contribution came from Steve who took 7 wickets, all bowled or LBW, to bring home the win.

Still unbeaten as a club, onto next week!
