This morning our Reserves travelled to Melksham for the Seend Tournament ⚽️

“What a brilliant morning of football! Every player worked incredibly hard, showed great teamwork and most importantly remained positive towards both their teammates and the opposition throughout. It was a genuinely enjoyable morning and I couldn’t be prouder of the attitude and effort shown by everyone.

Cody battled brilliantly in midfield/forward today, winning lots of balls and putting herself in great positions. She also wasn’t afraid to have a go, getting a few shots away at goal. Her ‘runs’ with the ball towards goal were excellent and I’ve definitely noticed her have more confidence on the ball.👏

Sarah showed great composure when under pressure and made some brilliant passes throughout the games. She stayed calm on the ball and made some really good decisions, the opposition noted how positive her attitude was towards all the team mates and awarded her a player of the match sticker.

Amalie battled incredibly hard despite being put under huge pressure. Once the opposition realised her strengths, she became a bit of a target, but she continued to work hard and create chances. She had lots of shots on target, but some excellent goalkeeping meant she didn’t come away with as many as deserved. Her performances clearly stood out, as she received an incredible THREE player of the match stickers, (voted for by the opposition teams each game)

Rubie tried her hand at upfront and defending today and absolutely excelled. Upfront she tackled lots and caused a nuisance for the other team. It felt like she touched every blade of grass on the pitch at times, covering all areas and helping wherever she was needed. She played some fantastic passes and even stepped up to be my goal kicker.

Harriet started strongly in midfield but quickly recognised that she needed to drop back a little and adapted brilliantly. As the games went on, her confidence continued to grow and she developed into a fantastic defender. She read the game well, improved her positioning and became more confident in making decisions.

Laura, our main defender for the day, showed some amazing personal growth. From once being nervous around the ball, she is now confidently throwing herself into tackles and consistently finding herself in the right place to mop up through balls from the opposition. I even saw a couple of headers today, which is incredible! 👏 Her development has been fantastic to watch.

🏆 Player of the Day – Harriet

Choosing a Player of the day today was extremely difficult, because every single player worked so hard and contributed brilliantly to the team.

However for me, it has to go to Harriet. Her progression from game to game was so evident. She grew in confidence, adapted her position when needed and by the end of the tournament was reading the game really well.
