Match report from 27th Jan

Still unbeaten in the cup!!
Minety reserves 2-2 (3-2) Leonard Stanley 3rds
Minety march onto the semis.
Minety started the game on the front foot. Aggressive play making opportunities left, right and centre. Somehow Stanley managed to keep themselves in it due to Minetys inability to put it away and sheer luck. Not to be deterred Johnny somehow contrived to get the ball under the keeper and into the net. Bakes made a great 1 on 1 save on a day where he was not tested much. Not long after a soft handball call gave them a chance to crawl back into it. 2nd half much the same until Harry popped up with a long range strike! The keeper unable to deal with it let it slip into the net. Again not long after a penalty was awarded for a tackle from Bakes. They put that away, but that would be the last time penaltys would save them. The rest of the game remained the same immense pressure from Minety, offering us plenty of opportunities that we didn't take. Went straight to penalties. Took the lead with a lovely Bakes save, but they got to retake after that didn't look back to book our slot in the next round.

Match report from 20th January

Minety 1 - 6 Nailsworth Town

Going into this game we looked to build on our cup win from last week. Unfortunately we struggled and didn't hit the performance levels we needed. Nailsworth were strong and aggressive and were good value for their victory.

We played some good stuff at times and created opportunities but didn't take advantage when we should have.

Nailsworth capitalised on small mistakes, breakdowns in communication and bits of luck and took their chances.

Plenty to improve on and we look to do that away to Uley Res this weekend.

Tay grabbed a well taken goal to add to his tally for the season.

MoTM: Owen Gethings, full commitment, great tackles and work rate and improving every game.

Thanks to everyone that came over to watch.

Onto this weekend, another big game, we pick ourselves up and go there to get the three points 💚💜

In case you missed Saturday's action here's our match report:

Huge win!
Minety reserves walked out 3-2 winners on Saturday with a resilient performance. Start of the game a scrappy affair with neither side not able to being the ball down and into play effectively. Minety then started to become more dominant with more football played on the deck especially out from lb or rb. Chalfords long ball game plan having some success led to some.decent defending and Adam making a brilliant 1:1 save. Eventually Chalford scored a well worked goal leaving it 1:0 to them at half time. Second half , after an interesting half time talk, took a different turn. Chalford scoring quickly then Minety turned it on. Arran with a good finish off of great work from Johnny on the right. Minety then becoming more dominant but still susceptible from a long ball counter attack. Great tackles from all the back 4 to keep us solid. Penalty then converted well by Tay with a ton of pressure on his shoulders to equalise. Adam then made the best tackle of his career, and the ref showing the lack of his knowledge with the decision after, keeping us level. With seconds left Jonny scored to send the team and spectators into raptures and keep us undefeated in the cup.

Next round: Leonard Stanley 3rds home 27th January.

Before the bottles become empty and we can still see straight(ish) we just want to take this time to wish everyone in Minety a Happy New Year and thank you all for your support this year!

As you all know we have been quite busy this year which has been great. We've had an amazing time getting to know you all better and can't thank you enough for supporting our events and coming along to our football.

We also want to give a huge shout out and special thanks to all those at the MPFA and of course Andrew who has been there each event and helped us along the way.

So raise a glass and a couple of bottles to 2024!! Have a great night everyone and we'll see you in the New Year

It's been a busy Christmas period but we are finally catching up, so get ready for the chain of posts coming before 2024, the race is on!

Post #1 A HUGE THANKYOU to everyone that supported our Christmas Greyhound appeal! The results were amazing, so great in fact that we had about 2 van loads of donations!!! We were even lucky enough to meet 2 of the greygrounds at our Christmas Fete, where they got to meet Mrs Claus and recieve a special gift themselves.

All the donations recieved were gifted to Greyhounds of Swindon and Beyond, which is a small project set up to care for retired greyhounds looking for their forever home.

If this was something you supported or would be interested in helping going forwards then please look them up on facebook and I'm sure you would be warmly welcomed.

Only 9 days until our Christmas fete and until our fundraising for this year comes to an end. So lets make it count!!

We have Christmas cards designed by the children of Minety available to buy from Minety Pre-School, Minety Primary School PTA and our wonderful Minety Shop Cards are £1 each and all profits made go to The Salvation Army.

We also have our Christmas Cake Raffle!!
