Primary events are a full Marathon & Running Festival on Saturday 6th May 2023 & all distance Triathlon Event on Saturday 10th September 2022. Saturday 6th May 2023

The Road to the Isles Marathon & Festival of Running is an absolute must for anybody looking to challenge themselves physically against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery. The stunning route sees runners snake through ancient woodland

, jog by pretty coastal villages, run beside glorious beaches before going on to pass Loch Morar, the deepest freshwater loch in Britain; River Morar, the shortest river in Britatin and Loch Nevis, the deepest seawater loch in Europe. The Road to the Isles Half Marathon is more than just a road race, it's an experience! Marathon 10am, Half Marathon Walk on the Wild Side 10.30am, Half Marathon Run 11.30am, 10k - 12 noon, 5k - 12.30pm [timings provision]. The undulating Marathon & Half Marathon route begins in the heart of the pretty fishing village of Arisaig where runners will receive a high-octane warm-up before setting off along a fairly level route before rising up a short sharp hill. . Runners will then follow the old Road to the Isles towards Traigh. From Traigh it's on to Morar passing the famous estuary and Silver Sands, before looping back by Loch Morar side to retrace the route back to Arisaig. The 10K & 5K take an equally beautiful but different route turning left out of Arisaig village and running along the Rhue Peninsular, hugging the coastline and with great views back to the village. The Road to the Isles Festival of Running provides an enjoyable challenge and sights such as the Silver Sands of Morar will boost morale all the way to the finish line! If you need more of a reason to participate, the Road to the Isles Marathon & Festival of Running is a fundraising event organised by and for Mallaig Pool & Leisure Centre. All monies raised will go towards the Leisure Centre's refurbishment programme so you'll be helping to keep our community fit too! The sign-up fee inlcudes:

* Water stations at four locations throughout the race
* Race marshals to direct participants at all junctions
* Delicious homemade refreshments will be provided afterwards
* A medal and complimentary use of the swimming pool, sauna and whirlpool bath

MALLAIG POOL AND LEISURE CANCELLATION OF RUNNING FESTIVAL AND TRAIGHATHLON 2023 EVENTS

We are extremely sorry to inform you about the cancellation of our upcoming Running Festival on 6th May and Traighathlon in September 2023.
The events have been cancelled for a number of reasons including; economic viability, a shortfall in staff and volunteer numbers and an overriding concern for event safety.
We wish to give ticket holders as much advance notice and we understand that you will be disappointed.
We are well aware that many of our attendees and sponsors contributed financial payments towards our events. We are now working on issuing the appropriate refunds back to you as quickly as possible. We would be pleased to convert ticket purchases and event sponsorship to donations to the Leisure Centre, (which is a community owned Social Enterprise and a charitable organisation) should you wish to give your generous support in this way.

We were looking forward to your attendance at our events in 2023, and intend to hold both events in 2024 and will be taking active steps to ensure these future events go ahead as planned.

Once again, please accept our apologies for the unfortunate cancellation of the 2023 Running Festival and Triaghathlon events. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter and we look forward to the return of these events in 2024 💞

This is our lovely friend Morag Fothergill who completed, by way of a bit of a warm up, in the Standard Triathlon swim last weekend. Tomorrow she will swim the width of Loch Morar in aid of a charity really dear to her & her family. If you've got a bit of spare cash down the back of the sofa - we can think of no better cause.
