The first book published entirely about darts. Called, not surprisingly, DARTS and written by Rupert Croft-Cooke, it hit the bookshops in December 1936 and sold so well that it had to be reprinted in January 1937. The book was not aimed at the general working-class darts player but the upper class who were turning to darts (at home and in the saloon bars) in huge numbers.

It's been ages since I posted anything so here's a section of a sports catalogue from 1928 which shows some of the darts that were available to those (who could afford them) back then. Note the Royal Patent Safety dart!

I thought you darts fans might like to see these two 'sample' cases from the 1960s owned by my great friend, mega-collector Patrick Dee. Anyone fancy becoming a darts salesman?

'Doctor Darts' would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and let's hope we can get back to playing darts in our local pubs again before too long. I haven't thrown a competitive dart in a pub since last March! All the very best to you all.
